@kahochan13 Hi - I use a sandpaper, especially made for artists, called Fisher 400 Art paper. You can get it in the UK from my website. just google jenny keal and look under art materials, for pastels. Best wishes Jenny
Truly beautiful! You need to put up more videos of live paintings...it has really helped me a lot with my pastel artwork to see the way you do things and your techniques...
@brittquin2009 Thanks Brittany. I will try to find some more demos to put on You tube soon. You can visit my website to see more painting tips. I can't put the link in here because Yout tube doesn't let you post links, but google 'jenny keal pastel' and then click on the painting tips menu. Best wishes Jenny
I feel inspired - finally - after just not being able to get back into painting again these last few months. Just being able to watch and learn is so encouraging.
@TheFilmcrew1 Hi You can buy Fisher 400 Art paper from our website.
Can't put a link on here cos You Tube don't allow it so google jenny keal artist and go to the art materials tab under Our Shop on the left and follow the links to pastel materials. The paper is the third item down. Alternatively google Fisher 400 art paper and you will find Tim Fisher who is a supplier and our link further down the page. I have a new book coming out soon so watch our website for information. Best wishes Jenny
I'm fascinated by the beautiful drawing and i learned a lot by watching your video - you mentioned you use sandpaper to draw on - not regular pastel paper ? does sandpaper helps to mix the colors easier ? thank you so much for your wonderful work Silvia
@Silviagirl345 Hi Silvia, The sandpaper I use is Fisher 400 Artpaper, available in the UK and possibly in the US. It makes the colours more vibrant, produces a lot less dust and allows you to create finer detail. It transformed my pastel painting and if you can get some I am sure you will find it will transform your work. Give it a try.
Your use of color is brilliant, I love your paintings! I was wondering what kind of paper you use when you work with pastels. You mentioned sand paper in the video, but which brand and where would be a place to get it if you don't mind me asking? =D
Hi I have been trying to send you information on the paper I use but You tube keep marking my comments as spam. email me at jennykeal@gmail.com and I will send you all the information. Best wishes Jenny
Idk, creating something with just your hands and not with the use of computers and what not, has a higher appeal to me. Especially if it is completely made from scratch using old methods (i'm not just talking about pastels and painting).
Don't get me wrong though. Some photoshop paintings are incredibly impressive.
@JessisKnoll Creating something on a canvas is actually more satisfying because most people don't acknowledge digital art as being tough. Most of the time they'll see it as autogenerated.
You also learn faster and better traditionally in my opinion.
I started with digital art.. and while I did get a little better.. I never got a full grasp on color because I never had to mix it. I also didn't have complete control of my brushstrokes.
why does it keep pausing every few seconds? I have been trying to watch this and it is very frustrating that there are all these interruptions. Please let me know if there is something I can do to solve this problem.
I am sorry you are having problems with this video. I have watched it through a couple of times and it did not stop once. It is possible that a slow internet connection could cause this problem. The video will pause whilst it 'buffers' you could try starting to play then press the pause icon and wait for the red line to reach the end before pressing play again. It might load and then you can watch without interruption. Let me know if this works. Best wishes Jenny
That is beautiful. Thanks for posting it. I normally get tired of watching 5 min videos of people painting, but you've truly got me hooked for the whole ten minutes.
You are such a gem to watch... Everything about you is fantastic... Your painting style, the way you teach, and your voice...Truly are an "inspiration" my dear...
I have finally realised I live in the wrong part of England. There's nothing worth painting unless I travel 30 plus miles. Mr Brown has put paid to that! Thanks for this. Most enjoyable.
What kind of paper do you use?

What brand of pastels do you use? These seem to go on very smooth and almost "thick" if that's at all possible.
