I have a question and if somebody knows tell me :) They say that the human is able to receive something as a video only when it is over 24 fps. So how, ex, this game, which runs at 19 or 20 doesn't seem to lag?
is this game available on steam kuz if so maybe thts how... but still this shows the amazing power oof these ltl things.... i have my own its prty darn fast =D
Lol you and me nearly have the same computer. My one is black and it's a EEE PC 1000H. But you have a different desktop and icons and stuff and a different sticker where it said "One Day Computing" Anyway i so got to try this.
how can you say that! are your eyes stupid or something? oh wait i get it. you got a shit netbook with linux installed and have no idea how to load windows on it lol. noooooob!
No actually I've spent five years working as a professional in the IT field and I know from personal experience that Ubuntu 9.04 using Wine emulation will yield better framerates as Ubuntu uses MUCH fewer resources than Windows. Plus DirectX 9.0c rendering in Wine can actually be smoother than in Windows itself. I must say I'm impressed by the Intel GMA as-is though. So, if you're going to insult me, know your shit.
if thats so then explain to me why halo dropped half in performance when i ran it on wine in ubuntu and then ran at full speed when i ran it on xp. please use your experience to explain that to me since you know a lot about linux.
Did you setup repositories to maintain latest versions of wine? Did you have the proper hardware drivers setup for your graphics card? What kind of graphics card do you have? What version of Ubuntu were you running? Were you emulating a full desktop? If so, at what resolution? Did you have advanced features such as Anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering turned on?
Also remember that I never said that Wine works perfectly for every application. It doesn't. BUT San Andreas is marked as a "platinum app" from Winehq which means that it will work perfectly. I've actually tested it myself and it performed far better than in Windows.
oh alright i see. let me just switch over to ubuntu so i can play gta sa and in the process screw myself over for the rest of the games made for windows. now thats what i call using your head in the world of gaming.
You're missing the point. Eee PC won't run Halo so there's no point in even trying. Wine is great for games of GTA:SA's graphical calibur. Yeah, it's not going to run Halo, or a few other games, but for a system that can't run them even on Windows it's stupid to make that argument.
For everyone that has some lag problems in this game- try going to display setup-->Advanced-->and turn frame limiter OFF(frame limiter limits your fps to 25).But if your system is slow, than even with frame limiter turned off, you still might not get more then 25 fps. If you still dont get good fps, than DONT make your resolution higher then 1024x768x16!
please reply O when u finish look at taskmanager perfomance tab at how smoothly ur runnin any pc. withi I could do somethin like tis on iphone LOL JK!
awesome vid dude I have the asus n10j a2 and will be most likely making a video today of it playing some games so if you or anyone else is interested I will be demonstrating gta and half life for the most part.. 5/5 on the vid great quality and good vid
Technically the 1000H is the best in the eee series. But there is also the new Asus n10 series (10.2" screen) with models that have the nVidia 9300GS M graphics card which can run games like Call of Duty 4. If you want "the best" get the Asus n10J-2 if price is not an issue for you.
@3Dt3ch are you sure you would want to run high graphics games on a netbook? in my opinion that will overheat it like crazy lowering the battery life really bad
You can install by either making ISO's of your disks with another computer and mounting them, networking a computer with a drive, or by buying an external CD/DVD drive.
I was really suprised that this actually did improve performance A LOT (Seems like those EAX+DirectSound3D filters really put a lot of stress on the tiny Atom-Core...).
The game runs now smooth on the 1000H. Not 40+fps smooth but PS2-Version smooth (good enough for this game!).
The only minor drawback is, that the cutscenes will be slightly out of sync with the audio (not important for me), but there are no other audio issues (everything else during the game sounds like it should).
I also tried very hard to get San Andreas run smoothly with my 1000H.
After several days I was about to give up, because even with 640x480 and all settings minimum + Super Performance it ran very jerky in crowded areas (newest GMA950-driver + 1206 bios)
ut yesterday I found a satisfying solution!
DISABLE the sound acceleration COMPLETELY!
Not the medium or basic setting TURN IT COMPLETELY OFF!
(Open up dxdiag.exe or the audio properties under system properties to do so).
I just got an eee pc but cant change the video memory of the graphics card, i've downloaded the latest BIOS but havent installed it, how do I actually upgrade it?
I'm truly impressed! I'm at the point of deciding to buy an 1000H or wait for the N10... but the price difference is huge! I won't be using the netbook to play games anyways, but I'm interested in the performance at photoediting (not the main purpose of course, but let's say 1/4 of the overall purpose): have you tried working in Photoshop (or similar) on large (10mpx or more) images? I don't know if the extra money on the NV9300 would be useful on this matter.. surely could with Ps CS4..
That's not true. Do I really have to post a video showing I turned off my wireless just to prove it to people? I am NOT here to fool people. This is legit.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 1000h doesn't run San Andreas well with the highest graphical details, it's just a plain fact. But how? I cant do this with my Eee pc

No. No graphics card. Intel GMA950 with 128mb shared, which makes it arguably better than some (I think the wind) that come with 64mb shared vid mem.
2 gigs of ram is the necessary upgrade, 20 bucks.
