I think some people misunderstood the movie. It's about HISTORY, this doesn't happen anymore, and Germans don't hate Jews. And Nazis =/= Germans. (I'm not German myself, if anyone's wondering.)
I have german relations and my great grandfather was an soilder in the war. I don't know if he was a nazi, because he died early, long time before I was even born.(I'm 15) But my grandmother said that he was forced to be in the war, and if he refused, he would go to jail, or even worse, one of the camps. I hate nazis because of what they did to the jews, but I don't hate germans. When I meet germans, I don't think of them as nazis at all, I never do. I think of them as ordinary human beings.
Love this movie and the book...but since I'm German people think I'm a Nazi or sumthin because my grandad had to fight he was a foot soldier and my great grandad his dad was in world war 1 but my grandad never even wanted to fight he was like the granma in the movie he hated what hitler was doing...other than that it's still a good movie but I hate how some people just assume what a person is by their race or nationalism...just saying

Just a few days ago I went to the Holocaust Museum for a field trip, I wanted to get out of there quicker then ever after I saw videos and clips of what Hitler has done, I wanted to cry but I couldn't, I was mostly scared, I never saw this movie but I knew it was about the Holocaust, I passed by a case that had striped pajamas, I saw some people crying in the museum, I hope Hitler is rotting in hell for what he has done! We are people, there's nothing wrong with us and our beliefs.

i read the book before i saw this today. i actually preferred the movie because the visual dynamics were stunning. words can't describe how flawless and emotionally gripping this was. it left me shaking by the end. this is the kind of movie you can only watch once in a long time. however, i highly recommend it because it has got to be some of the best work i've seen in a while.

I never, and I mean NEVER cry in movies. But oh my gosh, after seeing this, I was completely sobbing. I recommend everyone watch this movie its so great.

I am GERMAN! And I just meant me saying that about shame directly . And I know so many people that feel the same way. When we think back to those times we are really shocked how anything like that could happen...How we let that happen.Every child learns the German history in school...So everybody kinda gets in touch with it
Maybe there is a manority that thinks differently but most of us are doing everything to erase the story from our minds

I think the Italian movie you mentioned is ''La Vita E Bella'' (Life is Beautiful).
This movie uses very strong perspectives, the fact you see this movie through the eyes of a young boy makes it even more sad.
I think this movie must be shown on schools.

This movie is extremely sad and powerful, It shows us how terrible war is and the harsh life of a Jew back in the Holocaust. I recommend anyone to watch this, not bad for a low key production, I really love this movie, and I've been thinking about it for months now...

Just a few days ago I went to the Holocaust Museum for a field trip, I wanted to get out of there quicker then ever after I saw videos and clips of what Hitler has done, I wanted to cry but I couldn't, I was mostly scared, I never saw this movie but I knew it was about the Holocaust, I passed by a case that had striped pajamas, I saw some people crying in the museum, I hope Hitler is rotting in hell for what he has done! We are people, there's nothing wrong with us and our beliefs.
