  • Thank you great tip

  • Very good, informative video - thanks!

  • My toaster records better video than this..

  • @twist3d99 then make some photography related videos with your toaster, dumbo.

  • Great information!! I had never really thought about using the filter for that. Now I can work on things with my CP filters this coming spring and fall, can't wait to play with them.

  • The video quality sucks, but the sound is horrible. I have not seen the video until the end ... Adorama advise you that the next payment be an external micro ...

  • People care more about the quality of the video than what is being taught. Lol.

  • this series has such crappy production value. crappy sound and crappy image.

  • so how do you go about metering...are you metering for the waterfall or what exactly was the focus point of those 2 pictures?

  • Thank you Brian for those great lessons...

  • Bryan, "Understanding Exposure" and your videos are amazing. You're a great photographer and a masterful teacher. Keep up the great work we all enjoy!

  • Mark Wallace is the best

  • Guys, can I assume a 'polarizing filter' and a 'circular polarizer' are the same thing?

  • @unilateralview Yes. You can get the square type filters or the circular that has to screw onto the lens.

  • Bryan Peterson, made me want to take photos, he inspired me long before i purchased my first dslr camera. He made it fun, and understandable, no pressure, no stress style such a cool character

  • A polarizer is probably the only filter i have any interest in.

  • You might be able to one day filter polarization in postprocessing if the image was captured using a light field camera.

  • I've seen that way back in PPSOP. Why no new video !

  • In these examples I like better the photos without polarizing filter!

  • @fotostefanro I don't. I think in both examples the image that used the filter is the clear winner. But, as is so often the case with photography, it ultimately does come down to a matter of personal taste and preference. None of the shots are "bad", or "wrong."

  • I bought Bryan's 'understanding exposure' book the other day and the reviews were spot on. This is a great book and I learned so much and I'm not finished yet! I'm on the chapter about light so I'll finally learn how to meter.

  • excellent lesson,I'm a fan

  • i couldn't hear you over the roaring of the falls.

  • Preshot in advance? I thought Oregon gets snow.

  • Nothing LR cant fix ..contrast/vibrance/saturation and you're done

  • @Mgiu5 Actually, the polarizing effect is one of the only filters that CANT be reproduced in postprocessing. It's not just a contrast/saturation effect. You're actually removing reflected light from most surfaces like wet rocks, leaves, and even the water itself. Look at the 2nd waterfall shots side-by-side. With the polarizer, you can see through the water in the lower right corner, right down to the mos. Without it, you only see hazy white reflections in the water. Not happening in LR

  • poor audio

  • And I thought they were best suited to sunny days to create darker skies. I have a nice circular polarizer but seldom use it, so now I can put it to better use, being that right now we are having very dull, wet weather.

  • brill explanation....but yet again the video quality is rubbish...an i phone would be better!!!! constructive criticism

  • @videogangstar that is NOT constructive criticism. it's insulting that you think mentioning it at the end makes up for a lack of it in your comment.

  • @apusama On the other hand, though, it is hard to constructively criticize the video quality when it seems the only thing that would help it is a better camera and a better mic. I love Bryan's tutorials for the brilliant content but the videos themselves lack clarity and the audio is always subpar.

  • @rikomenzies It could also be that this was run through a compressor that didn't do good things to it. Either way, the final product isn't stellar.

  • @rikomenzies not that i don't agree on the low video quality, it's a little disappointing considering the otherwise great video, but he used "constructive criticism" as an excuse for his lack of tact. he could have simply suggested using a better camera/mic, but instead took the opportunity to throw in an insult.

  • @apusama No, yeah, I agree with you. No manners whatsoever.

  • very cool video, thanks!!

  • thumbs up if you're the 302nd viewer lololololol look at me i'm a total fuckhead.

  • I get more info on how to be a better photographer from 3 minutes of Bryan Peterson than from 2 hours of photography class at the local college.

Amaaaazing.... I have become a fan of this guy.

  • Great lesson Bryan!

  • awesome, never thought of that!

  • I just learned something new today, finally!

  • Bryan petersen needs more love from the Adorama audience <3

  • Interesting stuff.

  • good job
