Im not really toooo bothered about how they sound saw, you can make a kit sound like anything nowadays, i have a swingstar and i think it sounds killer, i just go off the look i guess
its amazing, i dont mean to dis in any way, drums are drums, i can get my old pearl export to sound this good, obvs this kit can sound better than my pearl export, but if they dont have the benifit of a nice room its no good. I can hear all the room modes etc.
@bentecho I'm with you man, with proper tuning and proper heads for your drums they can sound extremely good, the only place where you'll notice the difference is in a recording studio or in a rehearsal room that's been setup pretty well
@pescalante2 yeah, i did some recording for a video in a proper studio, big live room with all the walls angled etc, i was playing my sonor 3007, the bass drum sounded so amazing, its sounded like a new drum kit. Im thinking of buying a delite, but the more research i do, i dont think im going bother. Im prob gonna buy a yamaha stage custom or mapex meridian, get the edges done if nescsarry, had that done on my old pearl, like a new kit, Double 45 to a sharp point. punchy!
Nice kit, I had a set of Sonor Phonic Plus drums back in the late 80's. Well built drums, however I feel they are a little over-priced. I play a Ludwig maple kit that sounds every bit as good for about half the price.
@Ramen1020 EMAD2 with the bigger mufling ring nylon patch and felt side of the DW beaters ... disgusting... instead smaller ring on a single ply emad the smaller ring and the plastic patch with plastic or wooden beaters...imo
i am doing the same finish to my force 2000 bop kit. it used to have a weird blue plastic wrap, now it has ebony veneer wrapping, and also the same matte finish. it looks great and it was cheap as hell, only 60 bucks.
very nice sounds a lot like danny carey's kit...punchy...with that instant attack in your face sound that Sonor has...love em.

bass drum sounds like ass... try to put some 300-400Hz down like -4,5,6db, and some 8kHz like 3,4,5db up in mix.... it should sound better...

@stoletoto
I agree. It sounds more like "Fluff" than "boom".
The EQ on it is terrible.

Sexy kit indeed :D
What did you attach snare mic with? and what mic is it ?
sick898 1 year ago
does your bass drum have any attack.
AirsoftCritics 1 year ago
Yep, this was my kit / recording. Turns out you should NEVER put the bass mic half inside the port hole. Lesson learned. :)

Everything sounds good, and then the bass drum just ruins it.

that 15x15 floor sounds incredible.

WTF did they do to the bass drum?
Ramen1020 1 year ago 13
@Ramen1020
cut a vent hole into the resonant head?
the inner veneer makes it look as thought the interior is scratched up, when in reality, it isnt
