@commodore256 Actually this method is completely deprecated now that ffmpeg devs have perfected the x11grab input function. See my other videos for details.
This method is outdated now. I've been using ffmpeg x11grab which gives greatly improved results at a fraction of the CPU usage and also doesn't require JACK and works perfectly with Pulseaudio. Maybe I'll make a short screencast example video.
In 0:07, I only have system in both sides. Also, I can't do what you do on 0:34; the only option available is terminate playback. I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala, 9.10. I think that the problem is the pulseaudio-module-jack, which for what i have read, is not in Ubuntu anymore. I have tried to recompile pulseaudio following several guides but i cant get it to work. Do u have any idea of what should i do?
Nice tutorial, but this is actually overly complicated. You don't need JACK at all to record audio streams from webpages, just Pulseaudio and its Volume Control package.
That is true, however your audio will go out of sync if capturing for a long time, like capturing a video for example. I use ffmpeg x11grab now anyways, much better results, doesn't require JACK either.
*sarcasm*Thank you for explaining what your doing*/sarcasm*

@electra Then what's the point? It's like all of the tutorials on how to play portal on OSX using the Windows version of Steam.

Pulseaudio works just fine for me, but I can't get the hang of JACK at all. Any tips to make it work?

JACK is not hard to setup. I recommend searching the ubuntuforums for tutorials on it.
