I got tired of being charged 10x more than the locals for services in all the Latin America countries I've been to. Because I know Spanish and know the game I payed $5 for a taxi from the hotel to the airport and another gringo payed $60 because he didn't know the scam.
Banks in Costa Rica are now operating a scam against Gringo Pensionados. To simply transfer $1,000 between a scotiabank in Canada to a Scotiabank in Costa Rica now costs $55. per month. Being forced to pay $55. each and every month to stimply transfer between two Scotiabanks is a Costa Rica bank scam against elderly Gringos.
