I Think I have THE CHEESY BASS ... Just a few days ago I purchased an URAL 510G bass . It's the first type of the famous soviet Ural bass. It's almost new, and surprisingly it sounds, and plays good. The neck is thicker than my brother's Les Paul's neck :) But it's awsome !
Right. Absolutely different instruments. Well, hard to say.. because Jolana, Musima, Orfeus,.. acknowledgment imported into the USSR and many Soviet records made by them.

HI. I think it is a question of terminology. For me, "cheesy" does not mean bad! For many collectors "cheesy" its a special kind class of instruments. Chines replics not cheesy, they are usualy just cheap&bad.
Take care of it, in my opinion, this is one of the most successful instruments of Socialist bloc. With regard to the sound, it really dry as it must be, if the bass is connected directly (bass> budget combo Orange Crush 35b> built-in microphone of the camera) without pre-amps and processing. The concept of these records - to show the raw sound of the instrument itself, rather than trying to adjust (tune) any sound through the processing and amplification path.

@vttv01 CooL! Ural 510G much more rare than more common Ural 510L (LP-shaped) and for me it's better ;) Take care of it.

Throw your Pick away, and this bass will sound 2 times better ;) btw its pretty good :) i just fix Bas-1, and i put homemade pickups :)

i have a jolana bass telekaster form 1977,it sounds so good, i wouldn not treadet for anything,it sound better than my yamaha rbx 374.

No, this bass is very old, it made in mid 70x. Official Jolana web site date this model from 1973.
