But people from Canada, England, Australia...among other, they are pretty nice people and extremely polite. Not all call centres are like this - my internet company is quite helpful, seems to know exactly where the problem lies after asking a series of questions - I once had a bad DSLAM connected and it wasn't acknowledging the connection - all fixed within an hour.

I have had an earthlink account for many years. When problems were handled by Americans I rarely had any issues getting the problem resolved. Now when I call Earthlink it takes at least 3 calls to resolve a problem, the first 2 calls being handled by poorly trained incompetents who are very nice, but are incompetent to handle even minor issues. Outsourcing calls suck!
Now if we're all going to fight like blind fools saying a faceless nameless individual took your job away, we're not going to get anywhere. If you want to blame someone, blame those companies that are outsourcing your jobs. I do computer support every day, and I talk to Indians every day because they also share the support contract. I don't particularly like them because they are stealing American jobs and some can be quite arrogant.

This week I have taken part in a recruitment training programme for a call centre job in the UK, basically need any job! Today I sat a test as a precursor to an interview. I am confident, well spoken, have a degree, yet I failed the test. Some other candidates were shy, barely able to string sentences together, yet passed the test. Strange world!

I have had an earthlink account for many years. When problems were handled by Americans I rarely had any issues getting the problem resolved. Now when I call Earthlink it takes at least 3 calls to resolve a problem, the first 2 calls being handled by poorly trained incompetents who are very nice, but are incompetent to handle even minor issues. Outsourcing calls suck!

@iValarion You know what? It's not just about the jobs being offshored. It's about the shitty ass service, in my opinion. I was FORCED to hire 6 Indian system administrators for my team. All 6 of them SUPPOSEDLY have master's degrees in IT, but ultimately can't get the same amount of work done in a day as 2 local guys. Not only do they cause lay offs in the United States, but they do a shitty job of it as well. Oh by the way the person to blame is not the companies; it's BILL CLINTON.

I'll keep it simple; the Indian call centers are full of 90% dumb shits. I hate to stereotype an entire people, but I will DEFINITELY say that 9 times out of 10, if I get an Indian on the line, the process is guaranteed to take 4 to 5 times longer than if I get someone from the states. I don't think it's always poor education -- I just see that in MANY MANY cases, they have a total lack of common sense. I personally lost my job because of INDIA Call Centers! So did my wife! So DON'T Even try saying they aren't "taking our jobs".. Most of all, I blame the companies for this and I feel if they are a US Based Company, the Government needs to quadruple or even higher than that, raise their taxes for "Outsourcing." As for companies going to another country to "Manufacture." If they raise the price to outrageous numbers for Import, they will stop that shit too. Just IMO.

I do computer support every day, and I talk to Indians every day because they also share the support contract. I don't particularly like them because they are stealing American jobs and some can be quite arrogant.

You might not be aware that english is mostly used in our country than any other.We have 5600 newspapers 35000 magazines and over 21 langauges which a combined readership of over 120million. We have reached the Moon and back but you still feel that we are useless..In terms of doctors, engineers and scientist we are just behind two nations.Now with respect to power , ours is the second largest army power in the whole world still we respect others with folded hands.PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN!!!!

I agree with 'ikedcruz'. Although I'm baffled by the call centre selection process. I was made redundant from a professional career last year. This week I have taken part in a recruitment training programme for a call centre job in the UK, basically need any job! Today I sat a test as a precursor to an interview. I am confident, well spoken, have a degree, yet I failed the test. Some other candidates were shy, barely able to string sentences together, yet passed the test. Strange world!

I called once to fix a blackberry problem and I swear that half of our conversation fell into me trying to wonder what did that dude just say! @daoudhawa i haven't worked in a call center... i am just saying that jobs are going to India because of globalsation.... why American call center workers lost their jobs could be a combination of those factors but it all comes down to cost cutting.
