  • fuck monaco....its for the manny bad nod good for a super race !!

  • rather like Perez, Button or Raikkonen's crash at the chicane.

  • 1994 was a tragic year. Two deaths at the same race. Many injuries, lots of weird and brutal accidents during that season.

  • scary how similar this crash was to Perez's in 2011. Both were even racing for Sauber!!

  • Who's the chap with the mush they show in the end?

  • @scw0611 Think it might be Mario Theissen, not sure though...

  • @HardFang14

How can it be Mario Theissen? he works for BMW, not Mercedes! Plus, apart from the moustache, he looks nothing like him!

  • Horrible season, just a horrible season in so many ways.

    2 deaths, and many injuries.

  • The barrier has been moved further from the chicane since 94'. Still not far enough though.

  • Perez did the same thing with the same team on the same part of the track. Can any Sauber get around there???

  • good to see heidfeld at the end of the clip there

  • @DxsPro haha are you kidding? it´s not him..it´s some spokesman of Sauber..

  • @bourlivak88 haha are you stupid? it's him..it's not some spokesman of Sauber.. msacras eht tops t'nod ,esaelP.

  • @keeKKer who is being stupid..Heidfeld was like 16 years old at that time :D :D

  • @bourlivak88 I hid a secret message in my comment in case you would be stupid enough to fall for that...

  • Same accident as Perez. #getwellperez!

  • Perez hit it just now. But I guess & hope the barrier worked.

  • nico rosberg almost hit that barrier earlier

  • @WhuBilly10 & now perez went did the exact same thing as karl........hope he's ok

  • Due to this crash, Sauber started the headrest invention modern F1 cars have. Although it wasn't untill 1996 all the teams used it. That was a result after Hakkinen's crash.

  • in a modern F1 car, the only consequences probably would have been merely a major headache the day after.

  • That looks just like Button's accident there in 2003.

  • он выжил?

  • 1994 - the worst season of the F1 all time :(

  • @kein96 hardly...... it was normal for drivers to die before the 80's. One race weekend claimed the lives of 3 drivers.... can't remember which year or race tho..

  • Was this crash Fatal?

  • @MetalFusion337

Nope. He hit his head on the barrier and was in a coma for about 2 weeks, but he survived. He was never the same driver afterwards though...

  • there was much more in 1994:

    J.J.Lehto broke neck in testing

Pedro Lamy broke both legs with a freak accident in testing at silverstone

Jean Alesi got injured, but cant remember what and when

And there was anothe injury with a test driver, but also cant remeber the deatails as well.

I was only 12 back then, but 1994 will i remember for ever

  • That was another promising career ruined.

  • That was such a serious crash.Even in one of todays cars,a driver would very likely be in a bad condition afterwards.

  • Ironicly that reminds me alot of Button's crash 9 years later!

  • Quite right indeed, when I saw the accident I thought the same as well. :)

But Button was luckier because he hit the left guardrail first, which must have slowed him down before hitting the tyre barrier.

Wendlinger lost control and spun but didn't hit anything before the tyre barrier, so he hit it at almost full speed; also, his head struck a water-filled barrier, so he absorbed nearly all the energy from the impact.

Maybe that crash put a stop to Wendlinger's F1 aspirations... :(

  • @tugatomsk the difference between button's and wendlinger's crash wasn't in speed...button drove a 2003 f1 car and karl one from 1994.that says everything...and for sure stopped karl's f1 carrer.he wasn't the same driver after that crash.

  • Absolutely, the car's difference was big in such a way I thought I didn't have to mention it. Although I'm still convinced speed was another factor.

  • @ShadowFenrir93 you´re right! it was about at the same speed, in the same place and the cars stopped in exactly the same position after the impact! That shows how much safer was F1 9 years after this..

  • Michael Schumacher's career started in 1991...

  • I Know his career started in 91, but his reign as a champion started in 94 thats what i ment, he won the title because of the death of the real champion and illegal launch control

  • @adicolour75

pfff, no word for comments like this.

    It's just silly.

  • idiot

  • @adicolour75

its a shame that such comments are written in here!!

  • if brundle was killed, itv would lost one of its best commentators

  • The sport's biggest cheater, you're damn right! Jean Todt took over control of Ferrari.

  • 1994 ended Senna's life and Wendlinger's career as we knew it.

    :(

  • Before the crash I always thought he was a potential star of the future.

  • Franco Forini (the driver that never finish a race) at 0:17?

  • amazing how there was 2 tragic accidents at imola then next a big one at monaco

  • Yes, a´nd two weeks later there was the next with Andrea Montermini :(

  • @AstraJOM Where?I don't remember...In any case he went into coma for the bad water barrers which didn't decrase the impact..Car were already extremely safe...

  • @leemyster2 actually there were 3 at imola. I think you haven't thought about Barichello's one in the free practice.

  • Yes. 1994 was a dark year in the Formula 1.

  • @Visor988 : You´re right.. The Magic died.. :(

  • @leemyster2 Well, the tech changes made the '94 cars more difficult to drive. There were loads of bad testing accidents. So I don't think it's amazing at all. I think F1 in general became terribly complacent about circuit safety, not realising that the circuits could not cope with cars more likely to lose control. If there was a proper tyre barrier there, Wedlinger was more likely to have been okay.

  • Thanks foe uploading! Shame this crash changed his career so dramatically but he was lucky to be alive.
