the first time i came across a photo of simone in an old movie book, i couldnt beleive my eyes,,,she was a dead-ringer for a woman i was head-over-heels for, (but was engaged), as i had no photos of the woman who had my heart, i cut about 6 pictures out of 3 library books. terrible, i know, but it was the closest thing i had to a photo of my lost-love. amazing that she never got married,,,in fact i cant think of a single female film star of the past who never married.!!
Simone Simon é minha estrela predileta, francesa, filha de uma italiana de Torino chamada Monique e de um engenheiro francês.Quando assisti pela primeira vez:"Seventh Heaven",de 1937,foi amor a primeira vista.Infelizmente no Brasil só existe dela:"La Ronde","Cat People" e "Mademoselle Fifi".
Oh, Yes such a shame that she was passed over in Hollywood. 1936-39 were war years. American audiences were feeling very patriotic and uncertain of foreign influence.
Thank you so much for this wonderful presentation.
Simone Simon was underrated as an actress. She shined in Cat People and it's sad she wasn't in more American films. There was a vulnerability about her that added to her appeal. Lovely tribute to her.
I think it is fitting to remember Simone on her birth date, April 23rd. (1910)
Simone worked as a singer and model before she appeared in films. In 1936 Darryl F. Zanuck was so impressed with Simone that he brought her to Hollywood. However, her films for 20th Century Fox were only moderately successful and Simone returned to France.
Baz, did you know that Simone rewarded men to whom she was attracted a gold key to her boudoir? Fondly, Hedda
I don't believe she made too many American films did she? I have 2, Cat People, and Curse of the Cat People. She was great in them. Your music is wonderful. Thanks.
Your right! Her career was more successful in France. She moved to Hollywood twice (1936 and 1939) but her career languished in a series of mediocre films. Pity, she was an excellent actress!
Actually though Cat People, even might have been considered as a grade b movie, was not bad at all. Not by any stretch. It was eerie, but totally watchable.
A lovely actress - never lovelier than she was in "La Ronde" with Daniel Gelin.

It's hard to believe she'd be 100 years old now. The Devil and Daniel Webster is one of my all-time favorite movies.

The golden key was sspoken by a disgruntled employee who was convicted of various crimes. She was trying to defame her.
