  • Can you imagine if a NASA rocket did what the rocket at 2:44 did?

  • if i had 1 $ for every pixel in this video id have 1 $.

  • @FranciscoSRO2 Yeah, it was uploaded in the early days when video compressors were not as good.

  • what id like to know is how the hell does youtube know if you have or havenot permission to use a artis music how could thay know are thay reserching or stalking artis, i understand there point but why the hell don't thay wait till a complaint comes in before acting on there own, there is no way yourtube could check on all these artis to see if thay have given permission to use there music to a fan, i think youtube is infrenging on peoples right to persue happyness and freedom,

  • @david1513 For me when they complain I am infringing copyright, I let them know I pay for an MCPS (Music Copyright Protection Society) licence each year. For about £20 or so this allows me to use copyrighted music as long as I do not make money from it. Then they allow my videos.

On a personal level I agree with you. I don't mind people using my stuff - good luck to them. But then I don't earn a living from it, so I suppose if you do then someone might feel differently. I can see both sides.

  • check out jok nofail 1 tell me what iam doing wrong

  • @johnnyoverkill Look to me as if one of the wings either fell off or was not on properly and slightly twisted along the line of the rocket body. The rocket flew but spiralled. This points to an aero problem.

  • We're broadcasting Rocket launches live for a new game from Intel and Dick Smith called Turboboost Touchdown. We're using 5 cameras + 2 onboard cameras and 9 different C,D and E engine fully decal'd rockets.

  • I never use the decals i just paint evrything bright orange. it gets expensive after a while luanching these things and never finding em again

  • what i like about model rockets is that there still loved by parents, grandparents, and even todays kids! you would think that they would have gone out of entertainment due to todays tec that kids use all the time...god speed and god bless!

  • I quit flying these things when they stopped making the water decals, and went to those bumper sticker style decorations. they look so fake now.

  • ...that's odd. I've bought a dozen kits in the last 3 months and only 1 had sticker decals, the rest waterslide.

You Might take another look, there's more than Estes these days.

  • 1:11 was funny

  • does anyone know how to attach booster rockets to a sauturn v rocket

  • 100% bad azz yo. ty

  • 2:43 is awesome!!!

  • at 1:30 is that stubers the lake near the high ropes tower

  • Yep!

  • do you still do this

  • Occasionally. Probably more when the kids get into it again.

  • awesome vid

  • Vid is nicely edited! Like to hear the sound of rockes too though, never the less, cool vid!

  • what kind of rocket is is 2:44? that looks sweet. i want to get one.

  • That rocket is a home-made design of mine. It has my own design of wings (4 of them) on a (old kit) Thundersteak body and plastic nose. This is a 24mm diamter tube. Then I used epoxy glue on the engine mount and put an Aerotech E motor in it for extra performance.

  • Hey I was going to build a 5 foot rocket out of PVC pipe I am guessing the weight is going to be around 2-3 kg when completed, how can I ensure the CG is fwd of the CP so everything goes good without any problem manly for the safety side of things I was thinking of a H or I class motor what do you think

  • The easiest way to do this is to tie some string / cord (three feet should be enough) around the center of gravity, where the rocket balances level on the string, and secure it in place with some tape or such, then swing it around in circles like a merry go round in some good open space. If you can start it broadside or fins first and it turns and 'flies' solidly nose first, CG is forward of CP.

  • yeh that rockets sweet

  • reminds me of them Hezbollah vids

  • Laurie, happy memories from long ago. Great video. Henry

  • the rocket shown on 2:51 was awesome it stopped mid air and fell back a bit before the stage ignited

  • send me the song

  • its firestart by the prodigy i think thats how you spell it

  • Yep, Firestarter by the Prodigy.

  • Updated Oct 2009 - see the notes with this video.

  • here is a tip you should change the res and nice video

  • Yeah, this was one of my first uploads. Nowadays my res is higher and other things (that don't matter so much) lower.

  • w0w!! 3.24!

  • Thunder birds are GO!

    I WANT that rocket

  • very nice ...i really enjoyed the compilation of launches..

  • Thank you.

  • Just having a laugh - watched The Right Stuff couple of days ago, reminds me of the scenes where the rockets were all crapping out and going kaboom. Fun to watch.

  • I,m wondering where do you get your engiens?I get my engiens from estes rockets and most of my rockets are made of recycled parts.

  • nice rockets!!!!!mine are only like

    2 feet

  • Size matters not (Yoda - Empire) :-)

  • those rockets arn't that big, i've laucnhed bigger ones lol

  • The point is to have fun with model rockets. Look how fast some of those were. Going to extremes but in a way other than size. As Yoda once said 'Size matters not, judge me by my size do you?'

  • I'm just wondering, for people in the UK, what sort of license or things do you need to build and launch model rockets? Is it something you can freely do in your backyard? Any info posted here or through a personal message would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

  • Wow, Nice big rockets

Look also mine, beginning rockets Pure homemade

  • very well done i have a few starter rockets myself and for single engines there fun

  • hey is the rocket at 1:20 a Super-Eagle-Quick-Kit. the one that is about $13.99 USD

  • That red rocket is called The Shadow and is from the 1995 product range. Most of this was filmed in the late nineties. It is about 4ft tall and flies on D motors. I made three of these, the last one I modified to take 4 D motors, in a two cluster two stage configuration. Took 4 flights to get it to work properly, and one flight I even lost it in a forest for a day, went back the next and found it! Lots of fun.

  • hey at 1:20 is that model rocket called Super Eagle Quick-Kit? liek for around $13.99 USD

  • nice vid

  • The AIM-54 PHEONIX seen at 00:38 is one of my favorites. It looks just like a real one. I don't even launch mine anymore because I don't want to wreck it.

  • Don't blame you mate!

  • i launched my model rocket at my school it went 523 ft it was cool well nice vid man =D

  • .. how do you know its EXACT height?

  • With my rockets I use Alticalc, a rocket altitude preciction piece of software. I can also film it and measure the decent time therefore, plus I can measure the distance travelled per frame (1/25th second in the UK) and therefore know it's decent speed. The two things together will give a accurate altitude measurement. I cannot place a piece of electronics inside as it would compromise the performance somewhat with it's extra weight.

  • Is it better to have tall, short or medium fins.

  • Depends on the type of rocket and the performance you are after. You need weight towards the front and wings towards the back generally speaking. So putting ballast in the nose cone will make the rocket more stable but lesson performance. Bigger (or more) wings make it more stable but add drag and weight. So it is a compromise. You can do a 'Swing Test' to check stability, and then add nose weight or alter the wings. No room here to explain more, so try searching the net. Have fun!

  • do you have any tips on making a rocket from scratch.

  • Join a club if you can. Search the Internet for plans perhaps. Or buy a beginners set from Estes for example as that will teach you all the basics and give you a launch system you can use on your first scratch built rocket. For my own designs I used cardboard tubes and balsa wood. Nose cones were from old fireworks. But you can buy rocket parts or modify an existing kit.

  • thanks I was also wonder if you know how to make a launch set from scratch with out buying any pieces.Oh and can you make a body tube out of balsa wood.

  • You can make a launch system from scratch. Basically it is a 6 volt set of batteries with a pair of wires with crocodile clips on the end. Put in a switch. Also add a circuit breaker that is normally removed for safety (otherwise the rocket will launch as you connect it if the switch is on - not good).

  • Body tubes must be hollow to allow the backfire of the motor to pressurise the tube and push out the parachute (and push off the nose cone). Balsa would not make a strong hollow tube, that's why cardboard is normally used for model rockets. It is light and very strong.

  • You need 6 volts of batteries with two wires coming from them. Crocodile clips at the ends, switch in the circuit. Also a circuit breaker that is normally removed and only put in when ready to launch. This prevents the rocket accidentally getting ignition as you connect it up - if the switch was left on). Body tubes are hollow to allow the backfire charge of the motor to deploy the parachute (in the tube), so balsa wouldn't be strong enough as a tube. Cardboard is best for model rockets.

  • what do you mean by shuttle is there a model rocket that is like a shuttle please explain.

  • The current catalogue for Estes doesn't show a Shuttle. I got mine a few years ago. Actually it is the Orbiter part only, although I think there was once a complate Shuttle model too but at a smaller scale. Check on the net and see if you can find it. Also, I have a YouTube of mine flying. Search my recent vids.

  • thanks

  • You're welcome.

  • i seen the shuttle video it di great[the 1st time]

  • Thanks. Not all of it's flights go that well. A wind will upset it.

  • You can often get the Estes Shuttle Starter kit on eBay for about $30 (£15). It is an older model now and was produced from about 1996 - 2001.

  • what do you guys mean shuttle.I know what a space shuttle is but is it different with model rockets.

  • We are reffering to a Space Shuttle. Estes used to make one.

  • what no shuttle

  • I have got two shuttles and one did a terrific glide once on video. Sorry it's not there. You'll have to imagine it, or I'll put it up one day.

  • great ,have a look ay my shuttle its rc hope to fly it this summer

  • Actually I hope to put a shuttle clip up very soon - rendering several clips tonight.

  • It's there.

  • thats cool

  • 3:21 SWEET

  • Fight the Pressure!

  • whoah sweet

  • great, that thunderbird 3 model looked great, too bad it rolled over

  • one of your great rocket videos for the HART rocket club, well done Laurie.

For more information about HART see hartrockets . co . uk

  • Thanks Pete. Plenty more on your HART web site too.
