  • mine is worst.....check on my channel

  • I had the same problem, it's the camera casing. Like on the cover of the phone - the camera bit sticks out leaving it prone to getting scratches, when it get's scratched then the camera freaks out and glitches. Whenever I take the back cover of the phone off- it stops glitching, so I'm 95% sure that's the problem.

  • Is your camera problem the same as mine? I have a 10 sec vid clip and am desperate to find out wtf is wrong with mine.... Thank you for sharing your problem!

  • Hardware issue i had it too , but easy to fix :)

  • thx for this vid

  • Solution is to format your MicroSD card.

This worked for my HTC Desire. Problem reates to quality of memory card, if you have lower than 6-class MicroSD-card, the flash corrupts under heavy data transfer. This is interesting though you can use other applications and transfer data, even take pictures, but camcorder stops working. In some cases it has been reported that even higher class memory cards can cause this problem.

  • I've had the same issue, it seems quite common, nothing has fixed it apart from sending it back to the place I bought it. I'm on my 3rd desire now, and this one is going back for the camera glitch fault too, 1st one had no camera flash, 2nd one camera purple screen glitch, and 3rd one the same camera glitch.

  • Turn off your mobile data network...

This will probably solve your problem.

  • I got myself a Wildfire and sent it back to HTC for repair due to a total damage. Then I got a desire, got all my apps back and now I have that fucking glitch too. So what to do now? Does the phone need to be replaced for a new one or can it be fixed? Don't wanna lose all my apps again...

  • The Desire is just trying to be artsy, let it express itself! lol

  • to me that looks like the initial lense in the camera has gone funny on you, you might have dropped it or water might of gone in it, htc phones are very sensitive, because i had that happen to me ages ago on my old phone, but i know why it was, it was because i dropped it, whats happend there, theres a crack in the camera lense and it cant calabrate the picture properly, so take it back if u haven't now

  • My Desire doesn't record videos in MPEG4 format even though the settings are on that. Records only 3gpp. Anyone else has this problem?

  • i got mine the other day, its annoying, dosent HTC know there's a problem??

  • I have never had this problem.

  • @pilled I'm glad you got yours sorted. Mine... fingers crossed... doesn't seem to do it when I do what you say. I do notice it messing about when the camera shuts or initialises, though not in a purple way, just chequered repeat image.... for about 300ms

  • I had it replaced; Never had the problem since.

So I guess it is hardware related.

    Nasty.

  • @pilled Something really freaky... I just had the same thing as you! it went purple and chopped up. I just went to the home screen and opened up the camera again and it is fine again... Hardware or Software? lol. Did yours start sporadically?

  • @mobilehome2 It was pretty random, but i still managed to reproduce it easily, by moving the phone in all directions while holding the optical mouse (focus), it eventually lost sanity and went all purple and choppy.

I couldn't reproduce it on my current Desire though. Hence my thinking it is crearly a hardware fault.

  • I had the exact same issue. Swapped for a new one and haven't seen the problem since.

  • ive got the same problem :(

  • mine too

anybody knows if this is a hard- or softwarebug?

  • mine does that too when you point it at any apple hardware

  • @mobilehome2 looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • @mobilehome2 Just so you know, in case you were trying to be a smartass, it is a Sony Vaio ;)

  • @pilled lol, I just realised that there is a Windows Key... my bad. Hehe.
