I purchased this at Petco and returned it. I tried various settings and locations with no luck. Fortunately, Petco remained true to their refund ($85 device and battery).

I think it's because the sound is over the threshold of our hearing capacity. We can hear up to 19 kilohertz, any above, let's say 30 kilohertz is unhearable for us. Dogs on the other hand can hear far further than us, so if the hear a sqeeking 30 kiloherz signal it can be very annoying to the dog. So he quits barking.

why cant I hear the sound? I notice it on most of the videos by petsafe doesn't have a sound. any comments on this?
