@RobertDeBoron really, you can say he created about 35 legendary songs, but it's david bowie, so all his songs are legendary... yeah, even the first album...
Perhaps the most interesting thing about bowie, is that he could write eccentric stuff that is wonderfully weird, like this and this whole album, but he could also write more poppy hits that managed not to be obnoxious, a la modern love and fashion.
Yeah! I knew he had gigged at the Kremlin during the 96 tour, been looking for some clips! Though this isn't a good performance, maybe bad recording too.
How could Bowie refuse to play any of his old songs!? If I'd have written a song as good as Moonage Daydream, I'd be playing it every single day of my life!!!
I think Bowie 'swore off' playing old tunes after the 90 S&V tour....which was to me Bowie's dullest least inspired set, even though he brought Belew back into the picture.
Of course 5 Years later he was kicking ass once again with Scary Monsters and alll things 70s....Glad he reconsidered cuz his mid 90s tours were very powerful.
Mick Ronson is brilliant, but to say this would be nothing without him is rubbish. David is a legend; a wonderful singer and performer; without him, Mick Ronson wouldn't have gone as far as he did. Fact.
needs a dash of cocaine.

No it wasn't. That was more around the Tin Machine to Black Tie White Noise era.
you are correct though; there was a time when any old song would atleast be radically reworked.
