you boys give far far too much credit the Cus and Kevin Rooney for Mike's ring success! No manager, trainer or promoter can make a fighter champion if its not there.

Now not to demean Cus, he role a father figure was most prominent but even if he had been around til Mike was 40yrs old. His presents would have only kept him in check for 4 to 5 additional fights. Look at the history of Heavy weights, and the kind of kid tyson was.

When that fight took place (I was there) the ref gave Buster like 13 seconds. (it's slowed down in this video)

He only gave Tyson like 9 seconds. Plus, Tyson was looking for his mouth piece. he could've gotten up earlier had he not done that. Also... as soon as he got up, the ref put his arms around him (as if to protect him) and stopped the fight.

Holyfield would have beat Tyson in their primes. There is no doubt. Holyfield just had his number and had intagibles that Tyson didn't have - toughness in adversity, resillence, a no quit attitude, consistency. All those underlying qualities were in play when they were both in their primes. Tyson fell apart if you stood up to him and weren't afraid of him. When he faced a guy who wasn't afraid of him he fell apart.

He wasn't taking apart Larry Holmes, when they fought and it was a very competitve 12 RD decision. Holmes was 43 when they fought. Holmes of his prime likely would have killed Holyfield.. He got beat-down by Bowe twice, who was never a consistant great Heavyweight.. I would have loved to see them fight in Tyson's heyday.. You have to think of the Tyson at his best with Rooney. Not the shell of a fighter that came out of Prison. They are not the same..
