It's been a loooong time since a really extraordinary male dancer didn't come up. The last years have given much more great female dancers. But I think Vasiliev is like a male "assoluta". Reverence to him.

I prefer Osipova in this role but Kaptsova was absolutely fantastic too. In fact, these two make a wonderful pairing. If there were no Osipova, then I don't think Kaptsova could be bettered.

Vasiliev, of course, was really marvellous - those jumps!

@etoiledelkirov Yeah I respect that. But you can't get as much ballon without muscles like his. I think his jumps are what make him fun to watch. I love Ivan and partnering him is my non-reachable dream.

I think they are the best match for this ballet, Vasiliev with his incredible jumps shows an indomptable energy, and with his little bit of "bad boyness" makes a very convincing French revolutionary, while Nina Kaptsova, with her grace, delicateness, refinement, makes a perfect XWIIIth century aristocrat... THE "dream team"!

this is so much better than the one with osipova. kaptsova is actually a ballerina who has grace! Vasiliev is absolutely magnificent as always!

@9415908 totally agree with you, Nina is so much more femenine and gracefull than Osipova, Osipova is just a technique machine. Oh, and Vasiliev... OMG! GENIUS! ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN :D BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FOR NINA AND IVAN! :)
