  • Well, The bracket is tilted (Which is good on a real traction engine so theirfore it should be good for the mamod) However, It means that the tyres are very close to the flywheel. But, the real problem is when it runs with the tyres its never got enough steam to make it run smoothly like it will when it has no tyres on. I will try ajusting the Bracket on the weekend and check the flywheel too. I will get back to you on what happens...

  • Question, What Thickness Are Your Tyres? The effect that the tyres i had on my mamod centurion messed somthing up and we gathered that it was the added thickness of the tyre effecting the speed and the smoothness that the engine ran. Maybe thinner tyres would solve this but we arent sure.

    Actually, my tyres are quite thick Mclaren - I made my own from 1/8" thick ribbed rubber matting and they work fine, plenty of grip, and I prefer the look to the shop bought ones. Check that your rear tyre and flywheel aren't rubbing together 'cos Mamod are noted for their wobbly, out of true flywheels.
