I think Vai is such a leader in progressive, jazz , rock. He has made so many players better, and he is not threatened at all by, (but welcomes ideas from) other great musicians. Steve Vai is a very cool guitar player, But to say he is superior than Tony or Tony is better than Steve is awful wrong. From the video you can see that Vai has an incredibly different technique and musical style than Tony. Tony is a neo classical guitarist and the worlds most underrated pianist. Tony is also a super athlete musician. Steve is obviously the Master style guitarist who plays in such freeflow spirit being a very learned musician.

I'm sure that music wouldn't be as it's without guitar players sucha as: Randy Rhodes or Dimebag Darrell, but when it comes to theory, sound and extravagance, Steve Vai is a more develop guitar player and MUSICIAN than those guys together.
