  • Pure redemption.

  • For a long time you could only hear this music in black churches. Hallelujah and praise God times have changed. Great rendition of a classic.

  • Daaaaaaaang......!!! wish (my) pastor played like this!...then again...maybe not! (I'd have to play somewhere else!)Lol!

  • LIKED ...

    GREAT.

    PEDRINHO - BRAZIL

  • He plays too quickly. Blues is supposed to be sad, slow.

  • @DracoAzule tell it to Buddy Guy

  • This guy is the real thing

  • One word? Whew!

  • wow wow real blues man this yeah man real blues listento this part right here........

  • God bless this man but he shouldn't "rush" dem blues too much... it's still a lot better than some music I hear in church lol.

  • Was 2:22 a fail at a squelie?

  • i´m brazilian, i like the music blues....

  • i like this song

  • someone give him a gibson es

  • Este fenomeno esta tocando en al iglesia !! jajaja que grande !!

  • 4:34 - he emails god the song!

  • Your awesome, keep playing for Jesus!! You help to bring people who other wise might not listen to hear the name Jesus. Now once they hear it they will want to know him. Keep up the good work and good fight of faith!!!!!

  • I love it. This is music unchurched folks WILL listen to! It is a testimony in the style that people who love the blues will listen to and hear the gospel and be encouraged to Try Jesus! Well done! Pastor you jammin Brother!

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!

  • Such a good guitar player (Y)

  • hes singing the blues about not having the blues while playing the blues wait wtf?

  • If I was lame, I think there's a good chance I would walk again listening to this.

Super awesome. Praise God for you brother.

  • I would say if u listen only hes guitar THIS IS SICK! :-))

  • man I found a sermon I can actually listen to without chewing my damn legs off

  • he's a really good player...

  • @ kidd94: Hey man. I get what you are saying, and can see your position. To many, what your thinking seems straight and right. AND, truth be told, you are right. HOWEVER! Please let me help you understand "why" many of us still dress up on Sundays, or ANY church service for that matter...We don't do it to impress mankind, it is an inward desire to please God that simply manifests itself as an outward expression. If you were to go to the White House to meet the President...how would you dress?

  • @sarriascott Allah is not in your church on Sunday!

  • @acr08807 Well...I'll tell you this. "Jesus"...is. And to go one step farther, Jesus is with me EVERY day of the week.

  • @sarriascott Jesus was a great prophet, but he is dead. You will burn in Hell for worshipping Jesus instead of Allah. You must submit to Allan or suffer a powerful doom!

  • @acr08807 why must I submit to Allan too?

  • @ANDRWjory Because he is almost as powerful as is Allah. You win. 8)

  • @acr08807 You will regret that statement.

  • @acr08807 You will regret that statement sarriascott. GOD was Christ in the flesh.

  • @MUMBLAZE Jesus told us that He deliberately made Christianity confusing to keep persons whom He did not want to be saved from accidentally being saved. Obviously He doesn't want to spend an eternity with sarriascott (do you?), so please don't try to disabuse her of her childish notions of God that are based solely on a book written more than 1,000 years ago.

  • @acr08807 Jesus was more than a great prophet...He is the Son of God. The Bible says the Father and Son are one. I don't know who allah is but, I know who he isn't. He isn't God. The real God says love your enemies and pray for your enemies. Not kill the infidel like the koran says...thats a false god.

  • @lanes58 If God got angry, did He ever kill the people who upset Him with a sword?

  • @sarriascott We are in the presence of God every moment. So we should wear the "proper" dress in every moment. When we fell, when we make mistakes... I don't think so... The dress won't make us better. God, our heavenly father won't love us more if we wear any special thing. Not even WWJD bracelet, nor "superdress"... About the "president"... How would YOU dress if the president would be your father? Anyway, it is good to dress properly, but I think it is important just for man, not for God...

  • Rev's Got skills!

  • JESUS would say ROCK ON:)

  • If you play this backwards you can hear him say "worship Satan".

  • @JohnnyStratStrangler how do u know this?how do u play it backwards?

  • Great playing... But why do we as Christians still adhere to the "Sunday's Best" when we dress for church.. Do we really think God cares about what we wear.. So why do we.. Just seems weird to see this guy in a suit and tie wearing and plahing the blues..

  • @kidd94 All the greats wore suits when playing the blues! Look at B.B. King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Walker, etc. And I think we dress up in church to show some effort that we can at least look presentable in the house of God. One pastor talked about how the night before, young people would go out to the club and wear the nicest clothes and look their best when they're out drinking and partying, but they wouldn't bother dressing up and looking nice for God on a Sunday morning? He put it very well.

  • You touched our heart!!! Your great!!! Keep singing and playing and testifing the word of God!!! God bless you!!

  • Don't defend yourself to man. You play for an audience of One. Let your gift be His Praise. Rock on.

  • you make Roy Buchannen's singing sound good Pal, just stick to the Guitar ! HALLELUYAH !!!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD !!!!!! can I get a amen on that one BOOYAH !

  • @lcgtrplr Music is an expression of what's in our hearts, whatever the style or message. Find your "voice" and sing it, no matter what anyone else tells you.

  • this is just fun!!! learn to enjoy gifts that are shared!!! awesome, awesome. awesome!!! He is enjoying his salvation! WWJ think??? are you serious?, I bet He is enjoyin it too!

  • That was good.

  • ma che so kelle boccette la? ess xche sta assi :D

whAT are those little bottle? maybe something let him stay this way lmao :D

  • For those of you that see a contradiction here, please copy and paste this video title into your Youtube search for an explanation:

Good & Evil / The Gospel and Blues Connection / Cigar Box Guitar

This interdependence has been evident since the birth of Gospel and Blues. Understand this, one cannot exist without the other. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy.

  • Good very good

  • Is that a Schecter Hellraiser? Ironic...

  • OK, for all the Pharisees out there....

The Scriptures: 4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute

Sounds that is what Larry is doing to me. Nuff Said

    Big Ron

  • Everyone who criticized Larry, please look at his other Youtube videos. He has everything from old southern gospel to new contemporary style. Thank God for great musicians and worship leaders in our churches. Some churches don't even have one gifted or talented musician and their music is horrible. And if I am right I belive Larry played with The McGruders back in the day, that is real worship music there. Great job Larry!

  • @aldexreyes If you are praising God how can it be wrong. This style of music is what got me in the church and got me going down the right path to salvation because I could relate to and under stand the message. Never put down any thing that brings some one closer to God. Kd4ave

  • Very good. Where to buy your CD? Please come to Brazil to perform in our churches.

  • Very good. Where to buy your CD? Please come to Brazil to perform in our churches.

  • Very nice Larry Carter!! Where we buy your CD? Please, comming at Brasil!

  • Talent on loan from God. Some people preach, some people sing, all are giving God the glory. It's not about the spotlight being on the guitar player. In the same I look at a flower and and go "wow thats really pretty - nice job God" I hear a gutiar player who has some chops and go, "Nice Job God" Making a joyful noise. Go LArry.

  • this is not right!!!!!!

  • Using what you got for God's glory. Testify brotherrrr..

  • theres a time and place. church on a sunday morning isnt it...

  • @wizzdum10 Would you still make an ignorant comment like that if you knew this guys full ministry?

  • Well done my friend! Great song, great guitar playing and fantastic lyrics!! All churches should have music like this in their Worship Service. This song speaks better than a thousand sermons could ever say!!

    God bless

  • Christians dont need to go to the crossroads !!

  • schecter omen 6 diamond nice bluesy god bless u im too pentecostal , of sicily church Catania . great guitarist and vocalist

  • I'm not christian, but damn i love this song.

  • I love the blues, i play and sing them every day just about all day sometimes. I dont know many so to speak "gospel blues songs" but every song is someones story of life experiences. I do play and sing some gospel songs that relate to how i feel about God. just as the blues relate to life. Life is short and full of sorrows and troubles so yes i do get the blues. Bro. Larry, tell your story because there is always someone listening who can relate. BTW, very nice playing skills.

  • not the blues.at all.damn good playing...kinda wish he wouldn't open his mouth though.makes it sound like corny music from a car insurance commercial or something.the blues, the real blues, comes with feeling, and this music is just completely void of that

  • Praise God! Thank you brother for the great song and for the wonderful guitar playing! Please don't get discouraged by some peoples comments :-)

One in Christ! Outi & Lee

  • this is great! amazing what happens when god gets a hold of you and you really get into the worship! and yall shouldnt criticize him, this is obviously how he worships. everyone worships in their own way, the important thing is that we worship the same ONE TRUE HOLY GOD. this is how i worship to.

  • this is great! amazing what happens when god gets a hold of you and you really get into the worship! and yall shouldnt criticize him, this is obviously how he worships. everyone worships in their own way, the important thing is that we worship the same ONE TRUE HOLY GOD. this is how i worship to.

  • Psalms 33:3 says "Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise."

Each time I pick up the guitar to play the blues it is a new song because even if it is one I have played a hundred times it is always new because I play what I feel so each time is unique. Blues makes you feel good. If your down it picks you up. If your up it makes you feel even better. When I pray I praise God for his blessings and mercy and tell him what is on my mind. That is what I do with Gospel Blues.

  • keep doing what you do bro. There's no one way to worship God. God cannot be boxed into a corner. He's a God of diversity.

  • To the people who r negative about this. I play in a Christian rock band. Our guitar player is just as good as Bro. Larry. And we reach alot of people. People are saved. And even though im not a betting man. The people who are complaining about this are people who are people whos eyes are closed. We need all kinds of music to reach the world. Not just the kind u like. Bro. Larry play on.

  • this has got to be one of the lamest thing ever recorded.........

  • it is important to Larry to be taking the word of Jesus to the Saw ....... the rest is crap ...... glory to God, the king of kings ........ greetings from Brazil

  • fabulouis

  • awesome...sing my brother...

  • praise the lord...thats awesome guitar brother carter ...your a big inspiration ...thats serious worship guitar right there ...seen ya a couple months ago doing a song ...think it might have been "im a pentecostal" great stuff .....i am middle aged and i like this stuff ...isnt nothing like the Blues might be a sad word but the blues make ya feel so good i love blues guitar and i love GOSPEL BLUES GUITAR even more gospel blues is inspirational to young and old alike Big Thumbs Up...wtg

  • Many Hymns were unholy by some in their day, laced with the music popular of their day...the praise and worship has been a fight for many churches since the Jesus people movement...Rom 14...One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only...for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? ... Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

Some things don't have set rules...but we must live by our convictions.

  • @aldexreyes ...i totally agree with you...you sure seem to know the Lord strong......where are you from??

  • @antiantichrist999 I'm from everywhere. Here and there.

  • Now now guys, what's wrong with the blues? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all

  • @aldexreyes I guess black church don't really worship God then since they have some awesome musicians that really know how to tear up an organ. I think one should give God their best they have, and Bro. Larry Carter sure is giving God his very best!! And Larry, keep it up!

  • @mattsmusicstudio Yeah they have great musicians. I wonder if anyone pays attention to the Gospel amidst the wailing solos and over-exuberance brought on by the song, not the Word. Tell me something Holy Boy, do you practice abstinence like the Bible teaches us? Or did you follow the crowd into the pharmacy and get yourself a few condoms?

  • @aldexreyes dude just chill out, you don't know me or my life, and your passing untrue judgements on me, please read Matthew Chapter 7, the chapter about judging people before you make these rude comments.

  • @mattsmusicstudio

Just as I thought........you followed the crowd into the pharmacy.

  • @mattsmusicstudio i agree this is 2010 and this music does belong in church its phenominal im thinking jesus is saying ya son rip it up for me aint heard riffs like since david played and and danced :-) ...isnt nothing like blues gospel guitar and blues gospel keyboards ..blues gospel is awsesome WTG brother Carter keep it up !!

  • @lcgtrplr Accapella

  • "We should be careful as to how we worship".

Wow. Heaven forbid (no pun intended) you try to incorporate some blues licks into a worship song. I guess that just removes "the Jesus" right out of the whole thing, huh? I'm am SO glad my brain is not jacked up like that. That attitude is exactly why people don't want to step foot in a church.

  • @Nightmoore It's sad, but you're right. "Christians" are one of the biggest stumbling blocks when it comes to others becoming enamored of the Kingdom of God. They generally mean well, but they manage to effectively push people away. It is my prayer that I never turn someone away from the Lord with my thoughts and actions.

  • yeah ... great ... gotta love the naysayers with all the hang ups about worship ... i have decided i am gonna worship period ... no matter what style music ... rock, country, blues, contemporary p&w or old hymns etc ... you will always find something to whine about if that is what you are lookin' for ... the style of music is not what moves me to worship ... what Jesus did for me moves me to worship

  • @raybooger amen brother!

  • I don't see anything wrong with including nifty little guitar riffs in a song. We were instructed to make a joyful noise and to praise Him with the timbrel and dance...

  • @stillpiratical amen brother!

  • @kmb82501 Silly, I'm a lady. =D I just happen to have excellent taste in music and I heart Jesus.

  • I think that by its nature the Blues isn't Church music. BUT, I can't take away your happiness for playing and singin about God. Keep going, keep letting it grow in church until it makes even more sense.

  • lol i dont think church is a place to play the blues. but on the other hand he is playing the guitar which is obviously the gift god gave him and he is using to glorify the lord. but still dont play the blues at church. church is supposed to be happy place

  • I love his playing but it seems outta place. I would love to see the audience face.

  • Music is very spiritual to people who really get it. It is a direct extention of a person's inner self and emotions. I've spent many hours worshiping my Lord through instrumental music. People who don't improvise don't seem to get it, this guy's playing might be part of his worship. Can't thumbs down for that.

  • @tretonoseslide

Yes, I understand what you're saying. But there seems to be more focus on the licks and riffs and on himself than on Jesus. He is hardly humbling himself before the Lord. But hey, if it works for you, good for you.

  • @aldexreyes

You are absolutely clueless. If he has a God given talent, it's not ok to use a little technique? It's not ok for the music to be a little more complicated that your basic boring hymn? So because it has a lot of notes in a musical phrase it just took something away from Jesus? Could it be that it's something YOU'RE NOT USED TO HEARING? Maybe that's why you choose to attack it in such a manner?

  • @Nightmoore I did not attack anyone. You're just trigger happy and way too young to understand what I am saying. You might think that having an all out jam in church is a good thing because "I am praising God". There are certain things you just don't do. It's not boring or old fashioned. Respect is eternal. Some things need to be handled as such.

  • @aldexreyes Wow. Assume much?!? I'm 36. I've been playing blues-based guitar for years. I grew up in a Pentecostal church and have an extensive background on the bible and worship. I'm not trigger happy. I can just spot closed-minded and judgment filled people a mile away. Your definition of "respectful" and "praise" are completely your opinion. You speak in a negative tone towards your "christian brother" for worshiping God in this manner? YOU need to rethink your definition of "respect".

  • @Nightmoore Will do brother. You let me know which one Satan likes more, "The Blues" or the "Christian music"?

  • @aldexreyes Tell me aldexreys, do you even know what constitutes "the blues"? Did you know it's regular old chord progression using major/minor seventh chords and a flattened fifth (usually) note from the scale creating the melody? There's nothing evil about it. Did you know how the blues started? Hymns. The black man crying out to God for help. I'm pretty sure if Satan had to pick, he would go with Christian music that passes judgment and condemns others for no good reason.

  • @Nightmoore Save the lesson pops. There are many versions of where the blues originated and what "god" the black man was crying to. You have your opinion and I have mine. Blues don't belong in a church.

  • @Nightmoore YOUR assumtions are just as twisted. There is nothing wrong with the blues, however, that style of music does not belong in church. Neither does Rock 'n' Roll. 36 years into it and you don't get it. There are certian things you just don't do. Blues in church is one of them. If you can't figure it out, maybe you should put your guitar down and actually READ you Bible.

  • @tretonoseslide amen brother I improv too!

  • But hey brother.............if this is working for you, more power to you. At least you're up there talking about God. This just doesn't work for me personally.

  • @lcgtrplr I understand the Outward expression. (I am not knocking your playing you're obviously very talented) My point is that some people might want to come and hear you jam, not worship and then it takes on a whole different meaning. Those of us who like guitar might be interested more in what scale, riff, chord etc you're using instead of what you are saying. Too easy to be distracted. It's the same thing if an attractive babe in tight jeans and t shirt is trying to talk to you about God.

  • Craighshrimpton:

I don't like christian rock either, but it's not about me. That's the only way that some young people have had the gosple told to them. It doens't matter what we think, it's aou the reachin the sinner. And Larry Carter is doin rock, it's the blues and he's awesome. And i'm proud to be an American.

  • ha ha man I love it brother Ihave nothing bad to say about your playing or singing but as a bass player I would love to see you with a live band bro I am a pastors son my dad played bass professionaly befor he met the lord with a country/rock band so I have heard every thing the haters are saying to you I remember one verse in the Word it said THIS TO SHALL PASS!! ha ha keep on brother God bless

  • I have seen this guy live when he played with Southern Gospel group The McGruders. He is incredible.

  • Larry used to play the blues in the bars etc.. this is his testimony. He wrote this song. Now he's playing for Jesus. Go Larry!

  • Beautiful licks !

    Praise God, brother.

  • lammmeeeee

  • I am not an expert on blues (but I love it) and I am certainly not an expert on Jesus (but I love him). To me this is good stuff! Thanks!

  • Ha ha haaaa nice job Larry : )

  • What would Jesus think........or does anyone care?????

  • give the man a strat!

  • Comment removed

  • davidcarr,,, he has a strat. Seen him play it. The man is fantastic.

  • Love it!!

  • Umm, please do a little research on where the blues came from before you sound off. Ever heard of the gospel blues? Why do you think Led Zeppelin covered the great gospel blues guitarist blind Willie Johnson for two of their most memorable songs?

You got it backwards, the devil stole this sound and twisted it into rock and metal. Rather than a waste, this sound is here being used in it's traditional role.

  • @7nThunders I'm glad you have such conviction towards God, but music is a form of expression. Just so, music is what you make it. I am a God-fearing man who happens to be a hermetic Occultist. Music is what you make of it. If I decided to sing praise to the lord, it is praise, no matter what it sounds like. If you understand, thank you, if not, then may you still have a wonderful life, enjoying good music and God.

  • What a waste of talent.

What a theft of ideas, from Hendrix (obviously) to the movie Crossroads, to Van Halen and before and beyond.

"Look Kids! I can Play and Sing JUST LIKE THE WORLD!"

This sucks on so many low levels.

  • Yep- god sure loves a man wanking all over a horrible guitar into an i book. And there was me thinking that the blues was the devil's music- I guess ol' devil just disown his own soundtrack

  • Comment removed

  • come on yall this is a bad white guy. he got a little soul.

  • he just loves to play, and serves the lord at the same time

    i love it

  • He should learn some new blues faces and get away for suckface at 4:36.

  • He really did loose the blues, he can play the licks... damn well... but there just aint no soul

  • i love old guitar guys playing schecters, he's good, but his guitar sounds very much like it's plugged into a modeler.

  • Best Ive ever heard

  • Schecter goodness!

  • there's nothing spiritual about this dude. it's all show

  • He's been to my church 3 times u should hear his testimony that's what get's u

  • Now THAT is what you call "RIGHTEOUS!"

    GOD HAS BLESSED THAT PLAYING!!!

sounded like eddie van halen on two parts of that too!

  • Why did GOD teach him HOW TO PLAY but not HOW TO SING?

  • WOOO got them some blues i feel it man i shake my head in love for my God and the great sence of blues u got.

  • Entertainment salvation?

  • Nothing wrong with some gospel entertainment.

  • toca muito...:D

    good >

    from brazil...

  • Muito bom, toca d+++

  • christian rock is just pretty pointless lyrically, its just parrotting and paraphrasing the bible

and the attempt to appeal to young people usually fails miserably, at least in europe thankfully

  • Any christian books and or teachings and preaching is all paraphrasing the bible as well...after all the bible is the inspiration.

I record the music i enjoy. I do not seek any demopgraphic.

But FYI middle age couples account for approx 70% of my sales.
