who else thinks this song should end with a variation of this solo, just like "The Count of Tuscany" on their new album. Starts out with a solo. and repeats it with a couple of variations and in a different key at the end, it would make the song more epic, in my opinion.

well it is a two part song, that they just decided to split in half after completing the album. where i believe the song, both parts, switches keys enough as it is.

i know, but at the end of the second part, instead of the keyboard thing, they could the the "i no longer serve you, dark master." part(at the very end), and then Petrucci would play a variation on this solo (like in "The Count of Tuscany), i would say it would make the song better.

if you don't know what i mean, listen to the intro and outro solos of the count of tuscany and you'll get my point.

Nice playing! This solo is so beautiful... I play it with my Vox Valvetronix and my EB/MM JP7... I intend to buy a Mark IV here shortly to get this tone !... What do you think about your Mark IV? And do you use a software your video recording? Or simply a camera?

I own a mark IV myself and I can tell ya it delivers godlike tone. The amp is a bit complicated at first and sensitive to (sometimes subtle) changes, but after a while you'll know how the amp is going to respond at different volumes, different EQ setting, etc.. If you buy one, you wont be disappointed!
