I just do not understand why these stupid companies keep making these with the fan inlets on the BOTTOM of the cooler, instead of ducted out the SIDES like the Targus Chillmat.
Do they not get it that we are not always wanting to be tied to a DESK or some place with a level, flat, hard, surface? Like maybe lay it on the bed or our lap while sitting in a chair etc..
I like the extra features on this one.. but why no inlet on the sides instead of just another one needing air from a flat table?
i play quite a few games on my laptop, which my laptop can run, after a while they start to lag assume this is because it gets very hot here are my specs
intel core i5 proccessor
6gb of DDR3 ram
640gb hardrive
nvidia geforce gt540m with 1gb dedicated memory.
i play games like GTA SA, GTA 4, GTA EFLC, team fortress 2, half life 2 and apb reloaded.
it mostly lags on GTA 4 and EFLC would this cooler stop that?
please reply soon i need to buy a cooler soon before i spend my money on more games!
@hologun lol im sure if you run burn in or furmark it will get over 40c unless you are using liquid cooling. Even alienware are helped by the cooling mats.
How does it cool the other parts of the laptop and not only directly in the blast of the fans? I'm afraid the fans won't hit the gpu which is in the front part of the computer. It's a dell xps 17. any help much appreciated :P
If you got the old G73, and didnt upgrade the bios/drivers etc. You get those ridiculous amounts of heat. After upgrading everything, it should go to GPU 53~57 idle and 85C max :)
Kinda off topic, but are gaming laptops from Asus customizable? The last time I tried to install hardware on my laptop, I couln't get it back together myself.
@warrior16546 haha xD well normal person wouldnt notice... but im in to electronics... so i do care when my battery gonna run out xD btw this means no using it while travelling :D
Hello, i have 2 questions. I'm looking into buying a laptop cooler.....well....because i have a gaming laptop, and i was surprised at how good this works compared to other notebook coolers. So the questions are: would you get the same results with the sf-19 2.0? The only difference between the sf-19 strike force and the sf-19 2.0 are the the type of USB cables that can be connected right?
pro gamers use desktop, laptops r behind by alot!!!!apart from the foke that spend 5000 pound on laptops that aint even as powerful as 4000 quid desktop! stupid if u ask me! i baught a high powered laptop that pissed on all my friends pc's..... but with no power cable i was lucky to get 2 hours.......NOW SOLD!!!! even baught a external battery for power serges!!! laptops r shit!! and everyone knows it!
This is exactly why I simply do not care about gaming notebooks, people are complaining about gtx 480 running at almost 90 degrees in a desktop but this.... you cannot call it a laptop and I doubt it will be very easy to take it anywhere (unless you bring a Honda generator with you) its supposed to be a "lap" top... Either way I would rather build a much more powerful desktop for less money and have no temp issues at all...
I've went though 5 different coolers for my gaming laptop and each one failed after 4-6months due to the power cord becoming loose. How exactly does this cooling pad receive power? (I'm sorry if you already showed it in the video, but I'm watching it from my iPhone and the quality is crap) Thanks for the great reviews guys. Keep them coming.
Nice review as always. They should make a cheaper model sans the silly pimp lights (*palm to forehead*) - for those of us over the age of 17 -, minus one or two USB 3.0 and the useless cable guides; that should drop the price a weee bit.
@guihercat Doh! I knew I forgot to include something. For this particular test we used HWInfo32 and HWMonitor because they had specific support for the G73 and are both free. Some other software suggestions would be CoreTemp, RealTemp and Speedfan. Its usually not a bad idea to test out a few different programs in case one has some issues with your hardware.
@HeyItsMeDaniel Many would agree, the price does sound a bit steep initially, but your average desktop replacement gaming notebook isn't likely to be less than $1,500. $90 seems like a pretty small price to pay to ensure the longevity of your laptop.
Also when you think about it, many people spend a similar amount on their high end desktop coolers and fans.
@HeyItsMeDaniel yeah, USB3 is pretty expensive still... since most laptops dont have USB3, and since its a bit expensive, we released a USB2 version for 20-25$ less :)
the USB3 version is now around 75$ and the USB2 version around 50
If you guys have any questions, use the support ticket on cmstorm.com!
sorry but even then the sager was and still is the king of gaming notebooks.

They give it the option to power up with a HobbyKing Lipo battery as they are cheap, powerful and hold a high capacity.

water boils at 100C so a 106C temp on a GPU is scorching. That has to be a very unhealthy temp for the GPU.
