i you go for one of these always get the fixed choke so you can send 3 in slugs down the barrel without fear of having the choke tubes go with the slugs
I have been shooting skeet for a while with a single shotgun and my friends pump action. I really enjoy the sport, and I wanted to know how well the gun has performed for you? Because I keep watching and reading bad reviews on the gun and wanted to know from someone who also shoots how it performs, because I have always been interested in side by sides but if it is not a long lasting gun I will probably go with a pump action.
I sold my Condor for an uplander for a number of reasons. First the double triggers i find are more faster and its good that you can control which barrel to shoot. When reloading. the barrels dont drop as far as a O/U to reload. the SxS also has a beaver tail foreend so feels more stable. it only has 1 sight bead but i found it easier to acquire targets then 2 beads. sure it doesnt have ejectors but if you practice. you can grab the shells and throw them out just as fast !
I am thinking about getting one of these and I found your video to be very informative. I was just wondering if you have had any problems with it not firing correctly since you uploaded this video. I know in the video you said you hadn't had any problems with it but I was wondering if you had encountered any problems with it since then? Thank you
no. you could saw down the stock if you wanted to, but you couldn't put a pistol grip on it. why you would want a pistol grip double barrel is beyond me
nice vid dude, i have same one but 26in or so barrel, short barrel. im only 17 and only personaly bought a handful of hunting rifles and shotguns but this is by far my favorite and top in my favorite guns my family owns and is one of those guns u fall in love with and know u will never sell it, plus its badass and will fire no matter what crap is stuck in the barrel
I was thinking of getting the Coach version as a kind of all-purpose shotgun, mostly for just shooting stuff for fun, also serving a home defense role. And trying to use chokes to tighten the pattern at range if I ever wanted to try to use it for something like duck hunting. Would the short barrel just be too short for that kind of thing, even with chokes? I wish Stoeger sold longer barrels specifically for the coach so one would have more options rather than buying another gun.
I went through the exact same dilemma before I bought mine. I originally wanted the coach gun. A guy at the gun store told me the 20" barrel would be too short, but I'm inclined to believe that chokes would remedy the problem. Regardless, if this gun is just going to be a "shoot for fun" kind of gun, then I would go with the coach gun.
What kind of ammo does this thing take? The one I just bought is 12 gauge, but I'm not sure if it can or can't shoot slugs and what kind of shot it can shoot. They didn't include that in the manual with the weapon.
i have the same gun in 20 gauge it is a hard gun to learn to shoot once you learn to shoot it its effective and it is a skill not everyone can just do a trick i found for being more profficent is like stated in the viedo use a full choke also dont aim by pointing the barrel at the target aim with the bed put ur beed on the target then shoot it is much more easy
i think the myth of the side by side having problems with skeet is bullshit. when you have a spread for skeet an inch should not matter. if it does than its the shooter. complete myth. only made for bad shooters to have an excuse
I got this same gun yesterday for my birthday (turning 14 tommorow though, yes it's an early present :D). Can't wait to shoot it. This is is gonna be alot different than a .410 pump xD.
dry firing is only bad for guns that use rimfire ammunition, because the firing pin hits the wall of the breech when you dry fire it. guns that use centerfire ammunition are completely ok to dry fire because the firing pins are just hitting air. The myth that you need a snap cap to cushion the impact is just that, a myth
@nicker3290 You will know better when the tip of your firing pin goes flying up your barrel. I've seen it happen more than once with pistols and rifles.
@nicker3290 Yeah, my bad. The problem is with guys who make a habit of it and with older guns. Handling guns for over 55 years has probably influenced my perspective.
recoil is about the same as any other 12 gauge pump or break open. If you shoot more than 50 rounds in one sitting you will know it doesn't have a recoil pad
The recoil isn't bad, but it depends on how big you are and how much you shoot. Shooting 100 rounds or more starts to hurt me because it doesn't have a rubber recoil pad. If it really bugs you, you can just buy a slip on recoil pad
good to know i helped, enjoy the gun, its awesome and will work great for your application.
FYI, you can shoot both barrels at the same time with any SxS as long as it has double triggers. Single triggers usually don't cock both hammers at once, they rely on inertia (recoil) to activate the second hammer. However, double triggers give you complete control.
Does your gun have one of those warning stamped on the side of the gun reminding us to read the safety manual? I want to get a Side by Side but I don't want it to have that on the side.
Hmmmm sounds like this will be my next gun purchase. Thank you!
I just hate when on the side of a gun it says "Danger, read instructions" eye roll. If you didn't already know a gun was dangerous then why do you own one?
Im interested in this Gun and was wandering why you wanted the 26 not the 28, just the swing or what, and since you have an extra 2 inches does it pattern tighter
The shorter 26" barrel makes the front end lighter and easier to swing, while still maintaining a tight enough pattern to be used for pretty much all sporting and hunting applications.
I would get the 28" if you plan on using the gun for mostly trap or dove/duck hunting. If you aren't sure what you are going to use it for, or just want versatility for all types of hunting and sport shooting, go with a 26"
yeah, it does. do you know what the pattern on your 28 inch is, how far out can you reach things with it. The local dicks has two 26 inch guns and i really didn't want to wait, so i think i might go with the 26. can you shoot steel out of this gun or do you need to change out the chokes to do so?
I have never patterned the 28" but i know it is a bit tighter than a 26". However, both barrel lengths will be able to reach out to any game (short of goose) that you will ever encounter. This goes for clay shooting as well. With a field length barrel (26" and up), your ability to hit the target depends more on the choke and your skills as a shooter.
Shooting steel depends on the choke, not the gun. Generally, you can only shoot steel out of the more open chokes.
and the choke should have markings designating whether it is OK to shoot steel or not. I think the Uplander's manual mentions shooting steel and which chokes allow for it.
I'm looking at this gun preferably in a 26" barrel, I hope to use it mainly for recreational bird hunting and such. What are your views on this gun for that type of use? What about this gun compared to the Benelli Nova?
This gun would be great for hunting birds. But that all depends on what you prefer in a shotgun. the best advice i can give you would be to pick up both guns and handle them. See which one fits you better and is easier to swing and point. I really like the nova because its action is very smooth, it is light, and has a raised rib. Its also very durable and rugged. I would be more likely to take the Nova through the woods where it could get torn up. Also you get more capability with a 3.5" chamber
but they are two very different guns. The Stoeger is a double barrel and the nova is a pump. Both are excellent choices for hunting. But both have disadvantages. A pump will slow your ability to make a second shot. However, a pump will give you that third round that a double barrel will not. The nova does come with more chokes and even though they are similarly priced, the benelli fit and finish is on a completely different planet than the Stoger. Benelli is more comfortable to shoot as well
stoeger doesn't make choke because stoeger is owned by benelli so u r suppose to use benelli choke

Not much can really go wrong with it. It's a very simple design. I've so far been very happy with the performance of it.

yes, any shotgun can shoot a smaller size shell than it was chambered in. a 3" chamber will accept 2 3/4" but not 3 1/2"

no problems so far. The condor has those problems because of the inertia triggers. Getting a shotgun with double triggers avoids that.

I don't own one, but you can buy recoil pads for $20 at walmart. A sore shoulder is part of the fun though.

I've always preferred 12. 20 is more challenging to shoot clays with if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise I'd stick with a 12
