I can't speak for everyone, but for me, I like thre french version, it was the language that this was made for and thereby flows wonderfully, however I think it was a WONDERFUL idea to make this in English and (speaking English myslef) this is what I plan on listening to. because regardless of which is more beautiful/more like the original etc. I LIKE UNDERSTANDING WHAT I HEAR!
Can people STOP comparing this to the French version? Just take it as it is, don't compare otherwise of course it will seem worse. Just like it for what it is
I don't really like this version, I don't think the voices suit. Then again, the French-Canadian version is the first one I heard, so I may be biased.
I think it's "My tender years I bring here to you, like diamonds on a string all for you. Just promise anything, anything, I'll believe it's true." Not entirely sure though.
I wish the english version of that musical would be on dvd or so. I haven't seen it, but I really like Steve singing. Wish I could see him singing those songs...
yeah, I just noticed. :) I thought it didnt sound like him, but I listened to Torn Apart and now I'm sure that's steve... there's no other man with a voice like that.
Fl. My tender years I bring here to you, like diamonds on a string all for you.
Just promise anything, anything I'll believe it's true
P. Your heart say's it is time for us two, your eyes look into mine and I'm through.
Not all the stars that shine will outdo, the diamonds they're in you.

Fl. The man I've come to love, this handsome cavalier.
Won't know how I can love, until I hold him near.
P. You say that I don't know, but when you look at me.
Your eyes have such a glow; I know how it will be.
Fl. So look no more for love.
P. Love is you.
Fl. Love's all I am made of.
P. Oh so true.
Fl. The sun will shine above on our love the day I marry you.

P. I'll find you in the night, when all the moonlight streams.
Will cover you in light, and I will touch my dreams.
Fl. And all the words you'll say, will fill my heart with fire.
As night turns into day, I'll do all you desire.
P & FL. So look no more for love, love is you.
Loves all I am made of, Oh so true.
The sun will shine above on our love the day I marry you.
The sun will shine above on our love the day I marry you.
The day I marry you.

This perform lacks emotion!

We're comparing it because we're making a relative value judgement, and value judgements are usually relative.
And with the relative value judgement...God, this pales beside the French version, even if this does possess some aesthetic value.

She can sing in French. She has released quite a few French albums.
I think one of her songs is called Tu Trouveras

It's such a beautiful song, but it's awful in English.. The French version flows.. it's fluent.. And the English version doesn't..
Both voices are pretty, Fleur-de-lys' voice is a bit weak sometimes, but very beautiful ^^
ALYSSZ 2 years ago 4
i totally agree for the fluency particulatly in the beginning

It's rather awful! I mean voices are good but not 4 Fleur-de-Lys et Phoebus! French is the best!
SolanaTwilight 3 years ago
my god, I can't believe that someone even wanted to listen to that....it would be an insult even to compare to the french
murrkissa 3 years ago 2
this phoebus sucks and fleur de lys' voice is sooo weak
sisso15 3 years ago
their singing is kinda poor, the english text doesn't fit to the music
french version is the best

The only English version I really like is La Monture. Natasha St.-Pierre doesn't sound too great in this song, but she really does in La Monture.

the fleur-de-lys is good even though the english lyrics kinda suck. she is also very pretty.

BLARG. The French Version flows so much better than this version. It's not as pretty, though Fleur-de-lys voice is pretty
