I have galactosemia and I didn't take it seriously until I got older and found out it's nothing like lactose intolerance. Im 20 and it's kinda hard keeping track of the things I can and cannot eat.

I'm the father of two girls (6and 8) both have Classic Galactosemia. All I can say is that we live completly normal lives and it does not run our lives. Hello- I would like to take this time to tell parents- hang in there, and jeep your child on the diet as strict as possible!! I am a 23-year old male with Galactosemia. Through High School, I was an A-B student. I am now enrolled in a University and the Police Academy. I enjoy Motocross as well as other sports. I do not allow Galactosemia to hinder me in any way. Wow! I am so thankful to have come across this video. It really does explain the side effects of the disorder so well. I am trying to get my daughter in to see Dr. Berry. Hopefully we can get in soon.

My daughter has a mild form of this the drs called it duarte galactosemia.
