  • We have a couple of the C30-7s on the West Tennessee Railroad in the BN color.

  • Smooth rails no clickety-clack

  • I just made this train in MSTS!

  • Sure miss the caboose's. Retired last year(30+ yrs.) w/ the BNSF

  • @Ray63301 Where were you out of?

  • @rlgdestroyu StLouis @ 1st thenn to FtWorth,Texas.

  • @Ray63301 Right on. Im based out of Everett WA.

  • What happened to the dash 7's these days? I haven't seen one since 1995. On shortlines I've only seen GP's and SD's, I miss them...At least I thought they were awesome looking.

  • NIC VID

  • Quite a power consist. The 1970s, and 1980s were probably the heyday of Electro-Motives Division's SD series, but I find the GE locomotives of the era more for my tastes. Excellent footage.

  • wow great video!

  • I liked the old BN paint scheme with the diagonal stripes on the nose. On a straight, level track, you could see them for miles.

  • nasty RS3K.

  • Any horn that ends up in coal service turns nasty, coal dust is bad news for a horn. Just listed to the K3A's that are on the ex BN SD70MAC's. Even some of the newer ACe's have clogged up horns.

  • THAT VIDEO IS COOL!!

  • One thing i know for sure, is that Canadian Pacific will always Stand Fast!! and will never merge, since 1882. Though we do have some BNSF trains in Winnipeg too

  • I like the caboose.

  • the speed limit is 60.

  • 60?!! i wish that was the speed limit!! the top speed on the joint line is 55 but rarely you see trains over 40.

  • um the merger was 1995 not 1996

  • Nope, 12/31/96.

  • Is it me, or does the GE FDL engine sound almost as good as an ALCO

  • As the saying goes, inside every GE is an ALCo screaming to get out.

  • Because they use the same prime mover.

  • @e44e33 So why does a dash7 sound like an alco? Did they share prime movers or something?

  • i'm sure you meant "does an alco sound almost as good as a GE FDL"

  • what did FDL stand for do todays GE's still use FDL prime movers? and what ever happened to Lislie SK3 horns

  • the engine is properly the 7FDL-16 (or 8 or 12 cylinders) "7" is rotating equipment, F is the series and DL is diesel. they have gone past the FDL on newer locomotives. There was the GDL and HDL series in the latest locomotives.

  • @ERIELACKU34CH

The HDL was abandoned back after the C60ACs'. GE now uses GEVO Prime Movers. I am not sure if that's the GDL or not.

  • I never see those green burlington northerns anymore whats up with that

  • Burlington Northern merged with AT&SF back in 1996.

  • oh that makes sence.

  • The BN GE U30Cs were sold to short lines and regionals.

  • what is the speed on the Jpint Line? Andy Bowe

  • That I don't know. Maybe one of the engineers out there can tell us.

  • I'm not an engineer, just a railfan, but if I were to estimate the speed of that long baby, I'd say between 55 and 65, maybe 62. Ask someone with a sharper perception. I'd laugh if I was right. I might be close.

  • talk about hallin ass

  • Nice video,5 stars.
