@dhommie1 - I'm sure someone will share their miles per gallon with us, but I couldn't tell you. Especially since it didn't matter that much to me. - While I had this bike, I felt every drop of gas was worth it, since it kept me RIDING! ... Loved it while I had it... and may have another, later. (We'll have to see.)
@bigcountrypicker Not really sorry about that, hehe... but as you say, you will have yours soon? So that's good. I wanted for a LONG time to hear & see the bike in action, so was making the most of it while I had it. - I have a few more videos if it in the garage, where it stood, scanning every small detail. but that is how this bike was LOVED, while I had it. Good luck with yours ;-)
@bigcountrypicker i love your bike im going to wait tell i can find a red and cream, i live in Arkansas and Ive only seen a hand full of Indians in my 21 years of being alive but i got to be good friends with a guy that has one in Oklahoma he let me drive it and ive been hooked ever since on gettin one
I think if you do not understand or do not understand when they refer to a classic bike and the context where you use this word, when you refer to a motorcycle like this.
will be very hard to explain what we mean, if you're not connected or do not want you to understand and respect one when speaking of a classical model or a classic online. or to a great American classic.
Your indian motorcycle is a beautiful and always the mark will be a great classic in the world of motorcycles.
really the best bike for me! its my dream !! congratolation for your video!! i know you are in love of your indian............if you can....look my bike and you will see 1 thing from indian! sorry for my english!
Hey there (sorry for the delay of replying!!!) I have no idea if they will be sold in Italy, but the good news is that IndianMotorcycles (dot com) have started making them again, so they will know more aboiut how you can get one. The bad news is that they cost over $30,000 - and since you could buy a FEW bikes for that amount, with the market situation and amazing OTHER bikes out there, the prospect of buying one does not look as good as the bike does.
Hey there. It handled very well but heavy, & great overall. Had to remember that when stopping at traffic lights. I loved everything about the bike except the problems. The bike I came over to buy had bags, 3 front lights & windshield. The problems were specific to THAT bike, probably (not all 2000 Chiefs). Had I known it had been standing for 2 years unsold in the dealer's showroom I would not have been so hasty. I did test drive it before buying, but during that ride the engine performed fine.
What three things went wrong with the bike? How did it handle overall. The front end looks raked out a bit.I know there's alot of haters but I like the s&s chiefs. Thanks
It had been a lifelong dream to own one. Today I make do with my 3 bikes. A Heritage Softail, a 1500 Intruder (with Chief fenders) and a StarChief (Roadstar with Chief fenders).
More Chief ed bikes here (chief d o t 110mb d o t com). People can keep the reliable bikes they know & love, and slap on the Chief fenders they also love. Perfect.
For some reason can't get the link to work. I'm pretty sure I have seen your bikes somewhere else. Thanks for the info. The indian fenders are eyecatching. I ride a 1100 honda aero and a couple of guys have gone that route as well. Like my bike but would like to get something more powerful eventually. Can't beat the realibility though
I hear you! I had a 1100 Shadow for 6 years before the Intruder... I'll send you the link. (They don't allow links on here. - I must have spent a few HOURS last night trying to get it into the reply to you! haha)
Throughly enjoyed how you went about the discription of the bike and the video I am a proud owner of a Indian Chief 100th anniversary 01 chief with slight upgrades including six speed rev trek tranny check out my video
Very good video! I'm surprised the ratings are lower than 5/5. The narration was spot-on, and I enjoyed watching and listening to such a cool bike. Cruisers are the best!
Hey Psycho... I have a 2000 Chief- The bike SCREWS! I put a starter relay in it in the 8 years I have owned it! Your a fool for selling it. You're a credit card biker aren't you- the type wit a cell phone in his pocket.. can't change a spark plug.
I'm a rider, not a wrench. My 2000 Indian Chief broke down 3 times in the 31 days I had it. It was a non keeper. Now I have a Star Chief and no more problems.
@icelandknight I have owned a 01 chief for 9 years, and have had no problems at all.I have put 30,000 miles on it and love it,sorry you let yours go. I could never sell mine!
@widndn - Understand you completely! Mine had probably been mistreated and therefore misrepresented in the sale (Only 30 days earlier). I was sad to see it go too, but must admit, it wasn't the Chief I flew over to buy. The other had other issues (broken saddlebag mount, slow to start, backfiring, etc) and ALSO misrepresented in that sale. Just my luck, I guess. I DID enjoy mine while I had it, for sure. A dream come true... even if it didn't last.
I have a 1999 Chief I purchased it October of 2001 and all of the problems that I hear people have had with thier bike I have not had with mine. But at almost 10 years old the things that you would expect to start happening are starting to happen like busted fuel lines and minor stuff like that but nothing major at all. It is my first and only bike and I love it and will keep it for the rest of my days. I'll try to post a video on my page so you can check it out.
I do understand how you are feeling. Thank you for sharing. - For me it was a mixed bag, but I have loved every bike I have ever owned. However it ended each time, the glorious memory of a dream come true remains.
Hello, I have a Suzuki SV1000 that's doing an indicated 64mph at 4,000rpm in top gear. I'd be very interested to know what speed the Indian is doing at 4,000. I'll bet the gearing is really tall ! I don't suppose it has a rev counter but the engine sounds like it's really lazy and will probably still be running when we're all pushing up daisies. Thanks for posting this clip, it was very interesting.
Hey there Mike, no sorry no rev counter. in the right hands all bikes can outlive us! Pity I can't repair stuff. So I returned it. I have had a 1500 Intruder up here since they came out (98). Great maintenance free bikes.
(sorry it won't post long replies) It's probably me, I LOVE to ride it in a higher gear, so the engine sounds lower! haha I do it with the Intruder too! put put put... I COULD have given it some gasin a lower gear, but then it doesn't sound like a monster! The high gear is just MY sound. I also lower the idle rate, so it's borderline shutting OFF... and has done before, at a red light. Good to know you, man.
Sorry for the dog slow reply, I clean forgot because I've been chasing a woman online again ! I know what you mean about not using too many revs. I have a turbo diesel car that'll pull away from a standstill just by letting the clutch out slowly, no throttle needed whatsoever, unless on a steepish hill. God, fuel is expensive here now though, £1.15p per litre for diesel and not much less for unleaded ! Damn government tax, oil isn't THAT expensive.
what kind of gas mileage does this bike get

No ofence, but your bike is only 7 years old. How is it a classic? It has no connection with the original Indian company (1901 - 1953)
