Stephen King is possibly one of my favorite authors. He's a magnificent one. He's written some of the best stories ever. In a list of my favorite authors it would go. 1.Edgar Allan Poe, 2. Stephen King, 3 S.E. Hinton. I'm a guy and those are my favorite authors ever.
@UndeadLucas Yeah, that's very true. But from what i've gotten from him and his introductions, his "On Writing" book and such, is that, sure the money is important and great and well-deserved for his work, it's not just about the money. Meanwhile, some writers seem to write just for the money rather than for the sake of writing
@unrealityproduction Well he says he's been writing for over fifty some odd years. He's written many great books. It, Misery, The Stand, the list goes on. But still. That's all some authors are concerned about is money. People tried comparing Stephen to Stephenie Myers. Which is just crazy. Tell me if she can make a book that is at least up to his stands.
Hey not trying to steal the spotlight, but I am just letting everyone know that I am a first time published author. Hello everyone, I'm a new writer. My new novel is titled "Black Isis." It's a story in the crime thriller genre. The novel can be ordered on bn.com and amazon.com I'm trying the best I can to sell my novel, so please support and tell me what you think. It's under the name Rob C. Johnson. Thanks!
This man is brilliant hahah. I read 'Misery' and 'Pet Semetary' and they are both good, 'Misery' being my favorite. I am now reading 'Bag Of Bones' and loving it! :)
@UnimaginableNick the person wanted to walk up during the Q&A session to give it to him, people were allowed to give him "gifts" when they went up to meet him, they had a large box ready for stuff haha so im gessing it went in there eventually
@UnimaginableNick It was probably some guy trying to get him to look over his story and say if it was any good...it's very Unprofessional to do that, and very few writers would.
I heard he uses Botox. Like he's trying to be Harrison Ford or something. I don't know why he has to be so vain. He's just a bloody writer. Creepy old man.
I live near Dundalk, and on this exact day I bought "Misery" from a thrift store. The clerk informed me that he was going to a SK book signing at the Dundalk Wal-Mart that afternoon, but by then it was too late to sign up (apparently you needed to go in the morning and get a wristband, then come back.) *sniffle*

any one know if it was comfirmed wether he was going to do a sequel to the shining or not??? i hope he does, i really do.

i do know there is going to be a new novella this month called blockade billy, and more short stories with the title being, all dark and no stars, any news would be greatly appreciated.,...
woah, an eighth dark tower book???? i freaking love that series, on the fifth one now.
i already read under the dome and thought that one was really good too. i liked it alot depsite all the crtisim. did anyone hear he also plans to write a sequel to the shining, and he said it would be released later this year......
We all Love him so much.Long live Stephen king .Hope he comes to India at least once. And that at Mumbai India.I pride myself to be the biggest fan in my country atleast.
Shit shit shit!!! He came to Maryland?! NOO! I love this man and he came to my state?! God, he is one of the best writers of all time, plus he's hilarious. Hahaha, "...The Shining on crack." that is so funny! This man is the best!
Stevie, a WAL-MART?!?! It's like a diamond lying in a turd, but I'll forgive you. Better yet, you called it "Wally World," like I do. Oh, well, it's a necessary evil. DAMN, I wish I'd been there. At least I got to stand in the sands of "Duma Key," aka Longboat Key and watch the sun go down, right after the book came out. UNREAL sunset, just like in the book! I still have the shells!
Really cool video.......I bet that was awesome being there for this...... except for the waiting and the crowds of people. But I'm sure it was well worth it!
I disagree. He wrote and published Rita Haworth and the Shawshank Redemption, as well as The Green Mile, after Pet Semetary. They are very thought provoking and very well imagined. Other good ones are Dreamcatcher, Lisey's Story, and the screenplay Storm of the Century
@entwistlesjd I watched a book signing of him from like 87 and some guy summed it up (Who was in line) very well. "He's a great guy and a better writer".
Stephen King confirmed this during his TimesTalk event at The TimesCenter in New York City on November 10, 2009, and the next day King's official site posted the information that King will being working on this novel in about eight months, with a tentative title being The Wind Through the Keyhole.[6] King noted that this novel should be set between the fourth and the fifth books of the series.:)
I thought that the ending to the dark tower series was so awful as to make it really, really great. I guess I loved it because I hated it. If that makes any sense. It seemed an appropriate ending.
Why? I said PS, didn't I? Is it polite manners to hate Americans the way you do? You know how predictable you are? I figured you were British and it turned out you were Irish - close enough and what a shocker. You could have said obnoxious "people", but no, you wanted us all to know how you're better than over 300 million people in the most diverse country in the world. I say again, PS>...
Ok, sorry. I retract the use of the word Americans. That was out of order. I should had said that the noisy crowd made this video unmatchable and left it at that. Sorry!
I tried to read Christine, but I got bored. I tried to read firestarter, but didn't like it. The same happened with Pet Sematary. The ironic thing is though, I still think Stpehen King is a really top writer. Plus he wrote the story which was converted into the greatest movie of all time - The Shawshank Redemption. The Stand is his best work.
Pet Sematary and the Firestarter are just amazing... did you read the whole THE STAND book? that's a mandatory read in these times of flu... if you can make it thru that you'll appreciate all his other tales (at least that's what happened with me)
some of his books take a bit to get into, I'll admit that. They are usually worth sticking with. Only one I consider a clunker was Cujo, I never did finish that one and it's one of the few books I dont' have on my bookshelp
Man, I can name three good stories--along with this awesome book--by Stephen King that needs to be adapted. The Eyes of the Dragon--animation movie (just as it was supposed to be).
Whoops. I didn't finish. The other two books I wanted to mention were Duma Key--as a TV series. And last but not least, the Dark Tower series--as a TV series as well.
Sorry but Eyes of the Dragon was, to me, one of his worst stories... I read The Shining, which was my first SK book, and didn't like it, it was not bad but not good neither.
Now, Desperation was good, Bag of Bones was amazing and now I'm reading The Dark Half which seems excelent as well. The Dark Tower was pretty good, but I'm stuck on Wizard and Glass, I think a lot of people are stuck as well... Got my first copy of Under The Dome yesterday. I'm the first Brazilian to have it!
Eyes of the Dragon was my first book. Honestly, EotD, DK, and UtD are the only three books I've read by him, but I would like to read his other works.
I'm enjoyin it. I'm about 300 pages. A lot characters, just like Needful Things. Needful is, by far, his best book. It's just amazing and great. Everybody should read it. I got a little messed up with the amount of characters. You probably will have to do a list for remembering those characters. Same thing with Under The Dome although there's a list on the book, but this list is weird because there's not a ordem for the characters.
Anyway, I like Under the Dome but Needful is so much better.
Just got my copy and am bitterly disappointed Scribner/Simon&Schuster chose such tiny print and pale ink. They cheated not only the reader public but Stephen King who took 30 years to write possibly the crown jewel of his career. I'm just sick with disappointment.
Hey gatheringleaves-Duma Key is a great book but if you haven't read these-id reccomend reading The Dark Tower books and Under The Dome first. Those are better than Duma Key in my opinion.
Thanks 4 the clip! For people like me who live in England & never get the chance 2 meet him, its so good 2 c The Man at work! I wish he would come here 4 a book signing!

The Dark Tower was pretty good, but I'm stuck on Wizard and Glass, I think a lot of people are stuck as well... Got my first copy of Under The Dome yesterday. I'm the first Brazilian to have it!

Eyes of the Dragon was my first book. Honestly, EotD, DK, and UtD are the only three books I've read by him, but I would like to read his other works.

did you like UTD so far? I loved it :)

What is this, a convention on how to waste Stephen King's time with stupid questions?

Hey gatheringleaves-Duma Key is a great book but if you haven't read these-id reccomend reading The Dark Tower books and Under The Dome first. Those are better than Duma Key in my opinion.
