Oh and at the end of the day you have a loud Honda with a spray paint, paint job thats worth $200 with the engine pulled. In the far lane you have a low 11 sec Viper that will pull 1.0 G on the skid pad. I'd like to see that Honda pull a 0.5 on the skid pad.

Its the risk we all take when we tune our cars. We push it to the limit until the car's weak points show themselves then we upgrade and improve the manufacture's flaws and in this way make the car more reliable in its beefier, race driven condition.
@ltlocus I've heard of 1000+ hp supras that don't break down for years and many miles (Jeremy Clarkson test drove one, look it up). It really boils down to preventative maintenance, handiwork, and extremely well-made parts. Most Honda owners can't afford extremely well-made parts, and those that can afford the extremely well-made parts, don't get a Honda in the first place. It's a lose-lose situation. And now Toyota only makes boring cars, except for the Lexus LFA, which is overrated anyway...

The main difference between Japanese gold and American junk is materials and tolerances. B-series engines come with forged rods, cranks that are near perfectly balanced, high silica pistons etc., and extremely tight manufacturing tolerances. You buy American garbage and you HAVE to blueprint the engine just to make it the way it was designed. Then you have to upgrade multiple components just to handle any power increases.

Its the risk we all take when we tune our cars. We push it to the limit until the car's weak points show themselves then we upgrade and improve the manufacture's flaws and in this way make the car more reliable in its beefier, race driven condition.

@ltlocus I've heard of 1000+ hp supras that don't break down for years and many miles (Jeremy Clarkson test drove one, look it up). It really boils down to preventative maintenance, handiwork, and extremely well-made parts. Most Honda owners can't afford extremely well-made parts, and those that can afford the extremely well-made parts, don't get a Honda in the first place. It's a lose-lose situation. And now Toyota only makes boring cars, except for the Lexus LFA, which is overrated anyway...

The main difference between Japanese gold and American junk is materials and tolerances. B-series engines come with forged rods, cranks that are near perfectly balanced, high silica pistons etc., and extremely tight manufacturing tolerances. You buy American garbage and you HAVE to blueprint the engine just to make it the way it was designed. Then you have to upgrade multiple components just to handle any power increases.

Take the cars to a track and it would be a joke...viper is heavier because its built for traction/handling (although its not the easiest car to track - no TC or stability control) Viper is fast in straight line but it's 1g lateral ability is where it has advantage. The viper could also run all day, the honda at whatever unholy psi it's runnng, is likely to throw a rod. I wish more hondas were fast, 99% wont race my GTS....
