looks like the cyclist was riding on the wrong side of the road but I dunno. I ride every day to and from work and I dont run red lights when I see a cop, otherwise I do when the coast is clear.
Watch carefully, people. The police car had nothing to do with the cyclist's actions. Instead, the cyclists was obviously turning around in the middle of the intersection to catch up with the turquoise car he looked at and waved to just before at 0:05 in the video. The Irish Garda was likely just heading in that direction (which is why he turned into the far lane) rather than following the cyclist. The cyclist's actions were goofy, but not all that serious.
If the traffic control lights were out then the "rules of the road" take over. The main road has right of way over any side or minor road, and the po - leece car should have been more vigilant, and should have waited for the main road users (i.e. the cyclist) to pass before venturing onto the main causway. NOT - the other way round. The cycist had nothing to be ashamed of.
Would it not have been faster to cycle away than to run away? lol! Besides, cyclist had right of way if they were going straight ahead. Imagine if you found yourself in that situation in a car and just got out and legged it!
A mate told me he was in a taxi which hit some bollards off Dorset Street, knocking him out. When he came to, the taxi driver was across the street running away. Turned he had no license, insurance or tax... fun times :D

I was thinking that too - if there are no working lights, then you're meant to give way to traffic from the right (none in this case since the junction was left) and traffic already entering the junction.
The Gardaí would have given way to him.
Also, he entered the junction before the oncoming car which turned right towards the camera, so he would have been right to just carry on.
Looks like he just had no idea what he was doing, though :)
