@1023george Ok im confused, I didnt know there was such thing as grade 9......I take the ABRSM exams.....is the ABRSM exam grade 8 equivalent to the diploma grade 9??
@TheRockinpianist No, there are 3 main dimplomas that you can do. Firstly, increasing in order of level, there is the ATCL diploma which I am doing, then the LTCL, then the FTCL, and these are all higher than grade 8, but some people say that the ATCL diploma is an equivalent to what would be 'grade 9' and so on. I was saying that although it might be in the grade 8 exam book, I haven't seen it in the grade 8 exam book, but i have seen it on the ATCL diploma syllabus.
@1023george Ah thank you, I have never heard of any of that before. I shall look into that :) Sounds good. Thank you. And good luck with your music :)
.yea nice tempo.but make the left hand louder and play with light fingers because the notes cant be understood the melody is in the left not in right but youre making the right hand its melody thats why it didnt sound good
That was very good, but there are some parts where it just sounds like too many notes are being held out and you can't hear the individual notes being played, like at 1:00. But overall, awesome job!
Very good performance! My Mum played it too and recently my brother sent me a video from 1988 of her playing it at home. Just click on my user name to go to my channel, as I've just uploaded it. Please forgive her few errors as she was 64 in 1988.
I play this at a quicker speed; it sounds more impressive.
I think the best rendition on YouTube is the one played on a 1930's piano(there's a monochrome picture of ,I think ,the composer Sinding). It's not stated who the pianist is but this is the version to aim for.
Love this piece -- my dad plays it every once in awhile. And actually, I think your speed is just fine. It's not meant to be played slowly, as some people are suggesting. This is almost exactly the way my dad plays it. Thanks for sharing! :)
Ive been trying to play this since 1970. My father played it so well and its the main reason Ive been haunted by music all my life. The fact that you added it on my 51st birthday is a real present for me.
Beautiful. Slowing down just a little would help show the depth of this piece. I have been playing it for about three years now, and lessening the speed just a touch gives the listener the ability to enjoy the different things happening... Also the change of tempo at 1:36 was a bit interesting. Where did you get the idea that the climbing right there ought to be slower than the rest? I have always played those notes at the same speed. Well played overall, keep practicing!
Wonderful, My grandmother was accomplished at the piano and played this for me all the time. she did this piece with great feeling, she would have said you have that wonderful ability to feel what you play. I love being able to listen to you play this. a real treat for me as I have not heard this since she passed on in 1968. Thank you.
robot272; how amazing - you must be very proud of his music. my great-aunt played this amazingly well; i used to watch her at 3 and 4; doing so convinced me to study the piano, write songs, and marry a pianist. :)
Nice! I remember playing this song a while back for a talent show xD I messed up a little bit >.> but at least the crowded notes covered it a little :D
My favorite piece! So lyrical and beautiful. I sometimes fantasize about trying to adapt it to guitar. (As if.) You do a creditable job with it, keep practicing!
Great job! When I was a teenager (30 years ago) I played piano, but could never get this piece down. Again, you did a nice job with such a difficult piece.
I am not a musician, I just appreciate good music.
This piece is wonderful - sends shivers down my spine.
The best I have heard.
