Police need to have a damn good reason to wear military BDUs. The public needs to know that they are police officers & BDUs do not identify them as such.

@driftman96 iyou can put a heavy barrel on and convert it to a SAW with a 42 round mag it can lay down supressive fire or be used over greater distance and in a SAW role the ballerl will need to be changed if it gets to hot and time is imporant aka you need constant fire

@driftman96 depends on how fast you are. the austrian army has the aug a1 which does not have a bolt release button, so i havent learned any "tactical" process untill now. well we trained a special way on how to grab the empty and full magazine at once but i cant remeber how it worked. id say it depends on wich cercumstances you operate and which type of rifle you have. for example u cant use a technique youve learned while sitting when you have to reload your rifle while crouching.

The Steyr AUG is able to change from right hand ejection to left hand ejection in a matter of minutes.
The AUG is far from outdated. It is shorter than the AR15, but more accurate, which is no suprise when its made by Steyr. It also has more advantages including switch barrels.
very awesome looking gun I've always wanted a STG E4, but I've heard that Austrailian troops are compaing about major issues with the AUG. can anybody comfirm this or are these troops a bunch of delta farces who didn't pay attention during rifle training?
When I first saw the Steyr AUG (70's model) I thought to myself: "Wow, what a futuristic looking weapon" and when I saw that it was made in the 70's I pretty much got shocked. The steyr AUG is my fav tho. :P
@ChalupaTacoMeister The Australians use it. It's apparently expensive to manufacture, plus (at least the aussie variation) uses specialised ammo (again, expensive).

No chance the US military would even consider the AUG A3 as a standard issue rifle, we are just to fixed on AR variant rifles (which In my opinion are pretty shitty rifles)
@Alexn1067 True, because the AUG exists in smaller quantities. About 10,000 ARs are made a month in the USA. There are @10,000 total AUGs in the US since they were first imported. I would also argue that the 1861 Springfield, 1903 Springfield, and M-1 Garand have probably killed more people than the AR-15. The AR-15 is a good gun. So is the Steyr AUG. They shoot the same round out of relatively the same barrel lengths, so they are generally ballistically capable of the same things.

A $800 suppressor will save an agency over $50,000 in medical and disability benefits if an officer's hearing is permenantly damaged during an indoor shooting. Shooting suppressed weapons also makes the guns more comfortable, eliminates blinding muzzle flash which is useful at night or in a meth lab enviroment that could be explosive/flammable. If the whole team is using them, the officers can better communicate under fire.

Having a suppressor for police work actually makes a lot of sense once you think about it.
on handguns on general it menas single action (on revolvers you have to cock the hammer every shot, and on semi automatic pistols you have to cock the hammer for the first shot)
on rifles it generally means semi automatic (in contrast to the select fire military versions)

Guys, the simple fact remains that the AUG is probably the best rifle in service today bar none. I've used it in different formats, in many different zones, and it's done the job every single time, without fail. Hats off to Steyr for their design, years ahead of it's time. I've used many of the other rifles in the same class as the AUG, and they all have flaws. Mostly good weapons but always something small lets them down. Never, ever found any problems with AUG. Accurate, tough, and reliable.
The AUG A3/ SA USA was built on a reciever made by Sabre Defense in Nashville TN to Steyr (Austria) specs on Steyr tools under Steyr supervision and licensing and with other imported Steyr parts. It is marketed by Steyr's US division in Trussville, AL. It is not on the same reciever as the AUG A3 available in Austria (different rail heights and lengths). Complete AUG rifles were banned from import into the US in the 1980s. Only a few thousand AUG A1, A2, and USR came into the US as complete.
. A little less than 1900 of the AUG A3s have been made with Steyr/Sabre. But there are a number of them that have the high/long Austrian military sized rail. But that number is quite small. But I don't know of exact numbers. I own one myself.

@samanatorrules You are correct, the reload is not as quick as those weapons, but one of the traditional complaints about bullpups is slow reloads. Most operators unfamiliar with the AUG don't know techniques to speed up a bullpup reload, and that is what this portion of the video is trying to demostrate. I will submit that a 16" AUG is a much more compact weapon than a SCAR or ACR and you don't need to reload much with the proven AUG 42 round mags. (Unless you are surrounded by zombies.)

on handguns on general it menas single action (on revolvers you have to cock the hammer every shot, and on semi automatic pistols you have to cock the hammer for the first shot)
on rifles it generally means semi automatic (in contrast to the select fire military versions)

@malaymercernary It seems kind of questionable that 5.45 by 39 is extra deadly compared to other intermediate cartridges, especially since the time most of the "poison bullet" rumors started during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, and that was a pretty likely time for them to be making up more and more propaganda.

Guys, the simple fact remains that the AUG is probably the best rifle in service today bar none. I've used it in different formats, in many different zones, and it's done the job every single time, without fail. Hats off to Steyr for their design, years ahead of it's time. I've used many of the other rifles in the same class as the AUG, and they all have flaws. Mostly good weapons but always something small lets them down. Never, ever found any problems with AUG. Accurate, tough, and reliable.

The AUG A3/ SA USA was built on a reciever made by Sabre Defense in Nashville TN to Steyr (Austria) specs on Steyr tools under Steyr supervision and licensing and with other imported Steyr parts. It is marketed by Steyr's US division in Trussville, AL. It is not on the same reciever as the AUG A3 available in Austria (different rail heights and lengths). Complete AUG rifles were banned from import into the US in the 1980s. Only a few thousand AUG A1, A2, and USR came into the US as complete.

. A little less than 1900 of the AUG A3s have been made with Steyr/Sabre. But there are a number of them that have the high/long Austrian military sized rail. But that number is quite small. But I don't know of exact numbers. I own one myself.

But you should think a bit, MAYBE, SA is a copy, MAYBE this AUG is a Copy, MAYBE i know that for some reasons, i.e. because AUG stands for Armee Universal Gewehr which is...certainly NOT english but german. MAYBE it is because i had the REAL A3 in my hands and for that i know that the side rail you see at your f*cking 0:07 doesn't exist on the real weapon which is manufactured by Steyr Mannlicher AUT. It's a bad copy just as the ratworx stg 556.

@samanatorrules You are correct, the reload is not as quick as those weapons, but one of the traditional complaints about bullpups is slow reloads. Most operators unfamiliar with the AUG don't know techniques to speed up a bullpup reload, and that is what this portion of the video is trying to demostrate. I will submit that a 16" AUG is a much more compact weapon than a SCAR or ACR and you don't need to reload much with the proven AUG 42 round mags. (Unless you are surrounded by zombies.)
