  • Someone needs to tab this beautiful piece of music.

  • There's something about acoustic GA songs that are fuckin amazing. They should an acoustic album!!!!

  • This band is awesome!!!!

  • This band is awesome!!!! Nice and refreshing to hear .

  • Brian's voice in the chorus is fuckin' pefect

  • brian, i love you and your sandals more than life itself.

  • love this band

  • whats about is that song? i can read hear that some1 wrote that they steal this lyrics but from who? im just starting to listen them and I dont know a lot about them.. If any1 can answer on my question i'll be very greatfull ;)) ps.sorry if there were any bad words in my english :)

  • Anybody who can sit near a playground with a acoustic guitar and perform such an awesome song with so much feeling deserves a tip of the hat.

  • in the most beautiful way, he looks like a tortured soul singing this. that's exactly how all the songs, with their sound and lyrics come across; and they all find a way to pull my heart strings. maaad love for these cool, eeeven cooler than miles davis, guys.

  • It's more than just a tribute, using a line from a song makes a reference to it. Every feeling that line has, that song has, that band has, every experience a person has had with that band and their music, when they hear that line, all comes back to them in the song that references them. This band references a lot of bands, songs, and movies, making a lot of experiences come back to mind for me whenever I listen to them.

  • Kinda a crappy guitar sound huh?

  • cool stuff

  • what a beautiful version

  • get addicted to what?

  • i first thought this was a rip off of the counting crows song but he quotes the lines as a tribute and the message behind this song is that HE wants to be the guy that looks like elvis from the counting crows song,, amazing lyrics

  • i wanna climb on that jungle jim

  • @dcdude171 lol me too

  • this is real music

  • beautiful.

  • great stuff

  • Is there an mp3 of this? I don't want the album version i want this.

  • The acoustic version of Gaslight Anthem's songs are amazing. really amazing

  • goin to see them when there in glasgow, can not wait :D

  • i like how he crosses his legs when he plays gutairs its funny

  • @dcdude171 don't say it's funny! I always sit like that and since i saw him sitting like that i don't feel gay anymore! ;)

  • @MachMalWas lol he also doesn't really have a choice but to cross his legs, his leg has nowhere else to go

  • ahhh my favourite band ever :) he is just amaaaazing!

  • The thing I love from seeing this band live - 4 times now - is that they seem genuinely grateful and excited you turned out to see them play. Having seen so many big bands rumble through a set like it was copied and pasted, I like that. They don't take you for granted - and you can tell they enjoy it. I like that.

  • @EdgarTFriendly i know it's awesome seeing them live! me and a couple friends got to a show like 3 hours early to be in front while gaslight was doing a soundcheck with the doors open. then Brian invited us in to watch and asked us if we had a request. there's very few bands who would ever do that!

  • I agree...hope that passion never fades where it can never be found.

  • yeah dude. i met Brian at HOB in SC and he was seriously the coolest musician i've ever met in my life. most, not all, but most thank you for coming and then go on like they're too busy, but he thanked me, asked me what i felt like he coulda done better and i sat there and talked to him for a good 5 minutes. really cool dude.

  • very nice... any gaslight anthem fans out there that have not watched them perform should get on top of that this band is amazing live!

  • Gaslight - the new hope for a global high class music. A new fan.

  • lol, im making myself sound weird, but the sound quality is TOO good, lol. its stiill amazin version, but i feel its lackin the rawness i was expecting. you know, acoustic guitar, your voice, outside, nothing to do. Its raw... this sound quality removes the raw feel and replaces it with a studio one.

  • i have no idea what you are saying. you can hear the wind and he misses a few chords and changes his voice like 4 times to find what works....far from studio. great song and version though

  • it was just louder and.. i dunno clearer i suppose than what i expected.

  • im guessing mrfraccobaldo is a dick?

  • @MsRod59 Oh yeah, he's a total douche!

  • I wish TGA would make an acoustic record of these songs because they are as good if not better than some of the originals. Brian Fallon is a great lyricist and I can't wait for the new album!

  • Ive only gotten into TGA in the last couple of months but i agree that an acoustic album would be nice. A Brian Fellows Nebraska style album would be awesome! Dont think all his acoustic versions are better than the originals though, i love their heavier rock numbers, and i reckon the drummer Benny Horowitz is absolutely class.

  • Wow what a fucking idiot. "this guy is a theft?" This guy is an amazing lyricist. He pays tributes to the artists he enjoys by using lines from their songs.

  • Its not theft man, its tribute

  • he refferences a ton of other peoples songs, books and film lines but he does it in a way that is respectful it makes it his own work kinda

  • when he says i always kinda sorta wished i always looked like elvis, he is also referencing to "round here"

  • looks like a guild

  • any idea what kind of acoustic guitar he is playing?

  • its a martin

  • I adore the Counting Crows reference in here, and of course the I'm on Fire reference as well. Great song.

  • hahaha what counting crows reference?

enlighten me lol im not good at analyzing lyrics

  • The line "Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand" is straight out of a Counting Crows song, melody and all. The song is "Round Here," and it's a good one, so check it out. :)

  • @victoryrose7 "at night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet" (a freight train running through the middle of my head) ....... Bruce Springsteen

  • i never realized that he was referencing those two songs but know that you mention it he is. by the way those two songs are GREATNESS!

  • The reference that stood out for me immediately was the 'at night i woke up with the sheets soaking wet' ... its a pretty good song baby you know the rest. Which as im sure you are all aware is a 'im on fire' by bruce springsteen line.

But then i guess thats because im a huge boss fan. Lots of artists adapt lyrics, i like the way Brian makes it more obvious, i dont think its to 'rip them off' but more a respectful 'hats off', which i love.

  • Your right Luke, personally i think TGA are the Bruce of my generation. They had Bruce (who i still think is amazing) and we have Brian and the gang.

  • anyone have tabs for the version?

  • just watch the hands, i think its tuned down

  • yes, i agree..

i've found most of them are tuned down.

  • by the look of things the chorus is

Am F C G same with the ending

    verse maybe Am C G ?

    then F G & into the chorus?

i'm not 100% but i'm sure you can work it out from that

  • you're right on the chorus and pre-chorus.

the verse is Am, Dm, G, Am, C, G

  • always kinda sorta wished i looked elvis =]

  • i always kinda wished i was someone else

  • Hey, ADubberly, did Blink 182 credit Nirvana on their album for the song, "Adam's Song"?

"I took my time, I hurried up, the choice was mine I didn't think enough" -- (Blink 182)

"Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours don't be late." (Nirvana)

I think its awesome that they have a reference to The Counting Crows, it's like a tribute to that band.

  • anyone got a tab for this song

  • fucking epic

  • "Music is everybody's possession."- John Lennon (1940-1980)

  • @zetsuofakatsuki Kinda ironic then that the Beatles sued Michael Jackson for buying the rights to their songs and using them in commercials.

  • @Schpinki But not John Lennon. :-P.

  • It's not stealing, you silly fucker. It's a tribute. You really think that he's going to put a line in a song, put that song on an album and release it to the world hoping that nobody remembers the Counting Crows? Or Springsteen, for that matter?

    Don't be an idiot.

This isn't some kid at your high school trying to win 'battle of the bands,' passing pro lyrics off as his own. Get some perspective and go fuck your mother with it.

  • @kuntkunt88 I could not have said it better myself... and I have this argument with people way too often.

  • @kuntkunt88 Well said.

  • @kuntkunt88 hahahahahaha well said bra

  • @kuntkunt88 Springsteen's been playing shows with them. Pretty sure he knows.

  • @Schpinki You missed the whole point of what they said. Re-read it.

  • @kuntkunt88 lols, it's funny because your trying to sound like your some sort of professional music critic, but really you don't what the fuck your talking about. And by the way, you ruined the whole thing which your last immature comment.

  • @benbonigan you caught me. some sort of professional music critic... that's exactly what I was going for. you're an idiot.

  • @benbonigan If you could get your grammar right& actually make a point you wouldn't look like this big of a jack ass. But whats done is done, & here you are looking like one. I'm not going to call "kuntkunt88" some kind of music genius, but the comment they made makes a lot of sense. Line dropping in a song is a sign of respect& I sure as shit don't think that Fallon thinks he can use a Counting Crows lyric and pass it off as his own. So the immaturity you speak of is comming from you, not them.

  • blah blah blah

  • he didnt just steal a line he adds to it trying to describe the sort of dude he wants to be think you missed the point of the line

  • You do know acting like a trendy musicfag doesn't help you any, right?

  • What are you talking about? It's not stealing since he's not trying to pass it off as his own. The whole point is that you can recognize it from the CC tune, and make a reference between the two or whatever. It wouldn't be an effective line if he had just made it up, like. It wouldn't even make sense.

  • check out the liner notes. for Old White Lincoln, the line "I lit a cigarette on a parking meter," (which is from a Dylan song) is followed by Dylan lyrics that are scratched out, making reference to Dylan.

i don't see it as stealing, its alluding. people do it in music and books and films and such all the time. shit, springsteen has used multiple lines from books and films in his songs. is that stealing?

  • @ADubberly Erm, NO, it's not stealing at all- people sample lyrics all the time, it's tastefully done here. If you don't like him "stealing" the lyrics, don't comment about it and make yourself look stupid- just leave...

  • wow he looks so layed back and amasing!!.....great voice

  • looks like an old martin guitar

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, seriously

  • I wonder what shoe size he wears.

  • foot fetish much?

  • OMG ME 2!!!! I think it's a 10, but I'm not sureee!

  • Why isn't this band bigger?

  • They are pretty big!

  • What kind of guitar is that? I want to say Gibson, but I have doubts about it.

  • it's a "friedrich", a very smal german company that closed about 20 years ago ;)

  • very cool

  • @unterhirschen thanx

  • im pumped... im seeing this guy play an acoustic set at the middle east on january 25th

  • lucky, hes not playing any west coast shows so im SOL

  • I love how you can hear the wind at the end of the video

  • Ya know, I listen to this version almost daily. Thank you for sharing!

  • im going to try and tab this song out but i dont know chord names so it will probably take me awhile.. all i can tell you now is its tuned half a step down

  • LONG LIVE THE ANTHEM!

  • The one thing I'm wondering if anyone has tried is this song played tuned down?

  • could anyone post the chords he uses??

  • someone did earlier down in the comments I think. Also, the chords are very easy to see in this video it might be easy to just watch and play along with what he is doing

  • really? didn't see it.. sorry guys... well i did watch his chords now... i was just too lazy before!

  • he references Springsteen's "i'm on fire" even throwing in "it's a pretty good song, maybe you know the rest" afterwards. still all anyone talks about is the Crows reference. funny stuff.

  • And Makes a Reference to Tom Petty, Southern Accents, On The Radio.

The Round Here is much more obvious that is why everyone points it out.

  • chords?

  • why don't you look through the comments?

  • WOW! Have a hard time finding great bands these days but these guys are really good and the CC reference only makes them so much better!

  • Wow I didn't expect the counting crows drop

  • The "round here" reference caught me off gaurd as well. Both are awesome jams.

  • Awesome. Can somebody help me see what chords he uses? Not so good with them. Thanks

  • Intro C, G, F, Am add G on high E, F

    Verse A Dm G A C G

    Chorus Am F C G

    Post Chorus F C G

There's a couple other chords in between these progressions. They are mostly F and C chords. It is a mixture of open and bar chords. Look at where Brian's hands are to figure out which ones he's using. I think on the open G chord he is just playing the first couple strings, but you can also use the whole chord. Rock on.

  • Thanks, gonna try it out right away :)

  • Kerrang were right...class

  • Kerrang sucks usually, but for once supporting a decent band

  • Sweet lord, thank you for posting this. I have been obsessed with this song from the first time I heard the Counting Crows lyric drop.

  • which part is Counting Crows lyrics?

  • Where he says, "Maria came from Nashville with a suitcase in her hand". It's from 'Round Here' by the counting crows off of the August and Everything After album.

  • Thanks alot. I have never really listened to the Counting Crows but I think I'll give them a listen

  • That first album is one of the best albums to come out of the 90s. Every song is amazing and moving. I highly recommend.

  • this is amazing

  • I could swear I could feel how he felt the lyrics as he sung 'em. That's true, good music!

  • one of the best of the very great gaslight songs
