@ventoux56 Because when you are not a musician and you don't try to listen to the video correctly, it is more difficult for you to hear that he play half of what the guitarist of soad play. He did half of the notes just to be correct at 0:27. If you want to do that, you just have to put the volume of your ampli to the maximum, good trick to delude the persons ; )

I AM a musician myself and he definitely doesn`t play only half of the notes, listen closer to the original.

Maybe you got fooled by the delay SOAD used in the solo.

And if you knew Daron Malakian better you would know that he would never be able to play this at double speed (if that's possible anyway), I mean he's one of the greatest rhythm players I know but not a solo guitarist like Guthrie Govan, Malmsteen or whoever :)
