Ok explain this to me; I just read the other day and it said that every single branch of the military is getting roughly a quarter of what they requested budget wise next year, so basically we're not going to be able to afford the equipment and supplies that we need to continue conducting operations overseas. Republicans claim that they support the troops, but as soon as anybody mentions raising taxes so that the military can meet budget requirements, they scream bloody murder.

Bush did inherit a recession. I lived in the Bay area when all the dotcoms were going under....and that happened before Bush became president. The housing bubble in the SF Bay Area began to burst at the same time. Were trying to sell a house ...and it sold - finally- just in time. The prices began to go down immeditately after the dotcom problems because people lost jobs and were losing out on their homes. The demand was gone. Just setting record straight.

There are a lot more importatnt issues in the world. Car accidents are a more significant issue than terrorist attacks. I think you are only half right. What you describe makes up 50% or so of what being a good leader is. True, you need to make the rough decisions, but you also need to be able to work with others the other half of the time.
The outgoing administration was really good at the rough choices, but terrible at diplomacy. It may be true that Obama's administration may be wonderful at diplomacy, and lacking in the gravitas, but we will have to see.
