Hey man, i was wondering what kind of preamp you were using. Or if you were using a phantom power supply. Get back to me soon if you could please, I'm about to start recording myself :-)
@HippyamongHicks Vox is B1 mic running into Motu 8282 mkII with phantom power. The guitar has an inbuilt preamp running into Motu without phantom power. hope that helps!
@HippyamongHicks Wow that was a speedy reply haha. And yes, thank you. I will hopefully be getting a preamp soon, and this sounds good. Like really good. I just got a MXL v67g and was wondering what I should put on the other end. I play classical acoustic, and if you ever have any desire to get one, I highly suggest playing with a Yamaha G-120 A. They cost about 150 bucks and they are by far the best classical acoustic i've ever played. And I've played on 10,000 dollar guitars haha.

@jimmyduchateau Hey bro! Yeh good times. I know you'll be twanging forever with that talent of yours.. Byron is as fun and vibrant as ever.. I'm playing a rooftop gig with some electronic players (synth, scratch turnies etc) soon, should be different! take care jimmy dee!
Anna is playing her great grandmother's violin.. it's generations old. It is germanic but has a star of david inlay .. which is historically interesting.
understand.. in this case the mic is also recording the violin, not just my voice. Ideally in a studio setting I'd be standing up to sing, but in this case playing live so was a bit of a balance :)
Wow, that's really nice! I just discovered this song, but this is one of the nicest versions out there! Normally I don't like violins, but in this song it's used really nicely. *****
im getting this mic for xmas this year and was wondering if i can put it thru my mixing desk in to the computer to record instead of thru a firewire ?? ( it is the Alesis MultiMix 6FX ) thnkyou
you can run it through a mixing desk but it still has to get "into" your computer somehow. For maximum quality though it should go into your computer as raw as possible (ie direct firewire I/O) then EQ / mix from the software you are multi tracking with. thanks for your comments and hope this helps!
I can't remember for that recording but it depends on the room.. i put my gain up so i can here the "hiss" of the silence.. then change the filter switch to whatever sounds best. Often dealing with some low level ambient noise or "air".
it has a canon jack and needs phantom power, so you need an I/O device to plug it into, and that plugs into your computer. If you want it for music, i'd stay away from USB I/O as the latency is too high.. use firewire. I went all out and bought a MOTU 828 mkII for my I/O with my macbook.... but it's amazing, and make the B1 shine. Hope this helps you!
It will work but it will have latency so if you are playing along with anything on the PC it will not feel natural (eg a drumbeat). highly recommend firewire, even a cheap one.
Absolutly gorgouse and must add that ive been looking for a condensor mic for my vocals and watching yrou video had made me go with the behringer b-1 lol cant wait your voice and that song was just beautifull << "widout sounding gay that is lol" have subscribed and cant wait to hear more :)
Ahh thanks man! the B1 is an awesome mic... check out my latest vid (just today) I use the B1 to record a dobro slide guitar. (click HD and use headphones for best audio quality)
yh i noticed that you did a new video i have watched it and its very good your very talented, i have actually just orderd a b-1 now and cant wait for it to come should get it in a few days, so would be good if you could subscribe to me and ill do some songs meself when i get me mic and you can just think that it was you that made me get the b-1 lol anyways cant wait for more, thx :)
im from melbourne myself, cheers for the info...im gonna have to get myself some decent equipment. i play both guitar and drums myself but im sick of doing these half ass hack recordings like everyone else on here...haha...keep up the good work and i look forward to hearing more of ur stuff in the future...
No worries man.. its all in AUD tho.. (sorry!). I use a MBP which is a about 2-3k but even a Mac mini would do the job. The mic was about $250 .. add stand cost of course. I use a MOTO 828 mk2 which is amazing as an I/O device but cost about $800 AUD. For recording I use (and recommend) Logic Pro which is now cheaper than it used to be.. i think 400 - 500? all very approximate.. hope it helps!
Hey man, just wanna say Im a really HUGE fan of crowded house and this is a really awesome cover... I like the effects uv used on the mic, makes it sounds alot better then all the really cheap raw stuff u get on here... and great voice too....congrats
Great cover, good playing, great voice ! i was just searching for samples for the behringer b1 mic that i m considering for buying and i stubled on this ! Keep up the good work !
Thanks man! I highly recommend that mic. It lacks a little in the top end but nothing that cant be corrected with some EQ adjustment. It's my favorite mic.. very true sound. Hope this helps!

Very strong an emotional performance that could be easily butchered from any other music-pretend-jackass.
Beautiful violin too, fits so well with your voice!
