  • With the high Bb, it's played with the pinky down which is probably why it wouldn't come out for you that good. But the higher you go on piccolo you want to relax a little because it will help with the high notes coming out a lot easier and it will get rid of the spitting noise. But good video! I like arpeggios.

  • @BandGeek55100

Yes, you've told me this before... And like I said, this is from September of last year, where I barely remembered how to do it. Since them, I've discovered I can play up to the fourth octave D. On both flute and piccolo. And I've improved overall with the spitting noise and such. This was back when I was only like, half a year into my picc. playing. Now, I'm about a year or so there, and play like 3201942 times better. >.< And arpeggios are wonderful<3 They're my favourite.

  • One more slight tip to improve your piccolo playing. When you play, you tilt your head to the left and your embouchure is moved to the left which isn't helping with your tone or how you are able to get notes out. Look in a mirror and just try to keep your head straight that way you are able to keep your embouchure centered and make a great tone.

  • Your embouchure is way too pinched. When playing piccolo you have to have a firm embouchure while having some relaxation to make your lips much more flexible to allow the notes to come out with ease. The elephant noise you made is simply beacuse your too pinched and your embouchure isn't flexible. Really just work on relaxing your mouth and warm up really good, starting with low notes, and just making sure that you are getting a good tone while not pinching.

I address the elephant noise later, in one of my videos. This is for TEACHING PEOPLE. I am confident in my playing... I have taught others. I know I personally, do not tilt my head to the left when playing, It may look like that on camera, but in real life I don't. That and it looks to the left, because I am reading notes that are on the left side of the camera, so thus, it looks i'm playing left.

  • on the first octave my b, c and d come out sounding fine, but my e, f, g, and a sound wierd. It has the right sound of the note but there's also this noise as if air is escaping out of some other place, a whsipy kind of sound (sorry if you don't understand me, i'm bad at describing)

do you have any suggestions what i could be doing wrong

  • @SoulWingz

It could be the alignment of the keys, it could be the pads are too old and worn down and need to be replaced, there's any number of reasons why it might not sound right. I personally, by the description, don't think it's you, I think it's the piccolo.

  • @PickOfThePiccs thanks!!!

  • @SoulWingz

    no problemm!!(:

  • Can you please make flute videos? I know you said that there kind of the same things, but i just want to be on the right side. haha thanks

  • @SuperNickman11

I definitely can! I've been trying to upload more flute videos. But they're only songs, not actual lessons. I'll make more videos on lessons for flute if you'd like though? (:

  • WELL I'VE BEEN PLAYING PICCOLO FOR 4 YRS AND I STILL CAN'T GET A NICE SOUND ON THE LOWEST D NOTE.

  • @BSMMLW

Ah, I've only been playing for less than a year. I've gotten the first octave D out like two weeks into it. :\

My tips: relax your embouchure. Basically, put it loosest as possible. It even took me a bit to work on it. But with practice, you can get it(: Have faith and hope!(:

[[btw, i think I have another video strictly on low notes?]]

  • thank you for this, i just started piccolo and i couldnt figure out what a low note was supposed to sound like

  • @freddie461000

Hahaa no problem. I upload lesson videos all the time. So just give me a suggestion on a lesson (something you might need help with/need improvement on) and I'll attempt to help(:

or a song(: I'll constantly be updating my channel on which songs i might be thinking of doing(: But yeah. Thanks for watching and glad i could help!(:

  • My band teacher wants the flutes in marching band which one of them is me to start playing piccolo and i can't play Eb on it and just having issues could you help please??

    Thanks!

  • @iluvmyphone1011

Eb on the second or third octave?

  • @PickOfThePiccs The second one i haven't even attempted the 3rd one yet

  • im pretty late but thanks i almost think i got the vibrato down but my waves are slow not faster like its supposed to be

  • @ForeverHeartMusic

Vibrato is fun, but on piccolo is pretty hard. I can do one for flute if you want?(: On my next recording day (i know i said that last time, but i was oh so rudely interrupted by my mother last time)

  • thanks and can you do a lesson on flute/piccolo vibrato?

  • @ForeverHeartMusic

Lmfaoo, put it this way. vibrato on piccolo=super hard. vibrato on flute=i can attempt.

I'll do it next time i go for a video shoot day.(: I don't know if i can still vibrato with my new tongue piercing but i can sure try my darndest.

  • im a flutist changing to piccolo about next month tips, advice? i always tune on f

  • @ForeverHeartMusic

You wanna tune on second octave Bb. Like the concert Bb (the higher Bb on this scale) But if your director tunes on F, then tune on that. I just prefer Bb because most concerts tune to Bb, and it's just a good note to tune to others with considering most music is made to be tuned to Bb. But if everybody else is tuned to F and you're tuned to Bb, then it will sound weird. So basically tune to whatever everybody else is tuned to.

  • @ForeverHeartMusic

As for advice, the best i can say is to look at the lesson videos.(:

All my videos are basically advice to playing piccolo and perfecting the skill. I mean, nobody's perfect but there's always room for improvement.(:

All my lesson videos are usually stated Lesson, if not, it's the ones that dong have a song title in it xD

I do wish you luck though.(: Getting the basics down are easy, but perfecting it is the harder part.

  • im a flutis

  • @ForeverHeartMusic

    *Flautist. But yay(:

  • And that elephant noise happeneds to me all the time!!

  • @BandFreak98 Hahaaa, i have that happen to me all the time too still. Usually on the higher notes. But, as you get accustomed to the piccolo, you'll stop making it as much(:

  • So I was useing my ipod tuner and it said my bflat ,first one on the scale, was flat and the b flat up an octive was sharp. Is it just my ipod or the piccolo?

  • @BandFreak98

it could be just the way you were playing it. I usually tune by ear, (something that takes a while to learn, but for some reason it came easy to me?) so i don't know. there's also online tuners that say my piccolo isn't "in tune" when it really is. So i guess it's all just the program. As for the piccolo, never blame the piccolo. Unless if your piccolo is broken. But it won't make one note flat, then the octave higher version of that note sharp. especially when ...

  • @PickOfThePiccs whenit's the same fingerings

  • @PickOfThePiccs thanks

  • @Irockhard93

Hahaa it still told me what you wrote, and what did you mean? Like a real flute? As in, make one of these, but with flute?(:?

  • @PickOfThePiccs yea please and lol

  • @Irockhard93

    Hahaa i can try(:

I'll attempt to remember to bring home my flute from my school (i keep it safe there(; ...) and i'll make the same one just in flute(: in fact, it's easier with flute(: Picc. is a hard tuning instrument!

  • I love you! You are great! Thank you so much for that. I wanna play the piccolo so on Wendsay I get to see if I can make a sound. Could you make a video for how to hold the piccolo on ur mouth? I just don't get how to put ur lips on the head of it. Thank you.

  • @BandFreak98

Haha i love you too! And thanks(: Haha good luck with the piccolo situation, if you can play the flute, you can most likely at least make the Bb scale on your first day.(:

As for putting the piccolo to your mouth; check the embouchure video out. I''ll tagg you in a comment there(: It'll teach you all about that lovely hott mess(:

    Thanks for watching && Commenting(:

  • @PickOfThePiccs Why do you wanna tune on hight bflat? Also how do you go high on the piccolo?

  • @BandFreak98

You wanna tune to high Bb because it's the same note you tune to on flute. The piccolo is the same as the flute but just a soprano version of it.

And for higher notes, you wanna push more air through the instrument, and you wanna tighten your embouchure. (:

  • @PickOfThePiccs Ok thanks I will tell you about Wendsay and how that goes.

  • @BandFreak98

Haha alrighty and no problem at all.

I can't wait to hear how you did(:

  • I am trying to choose between instruments xS I played guitar but i would like to play a blow instrument , piccolo looks fun . But i am not sure plz help

  • @ShadowWowExp

Piccolo is super easy if you know flute. So i'd suggest learning flute then switching later to piccolo. Starting straight off to piccolo without background knowledge of blowing into instruments will definitely be hard. But you can try it(: Ask your local band if you can attempt to blow into a piccolo. The teacher or instructor will know if it sounds right.(:

Thanks for commenting, and hope this helped. If not, reply and i'll always comment back.

Btw sorry this didn't come earlier,

  • @ShadowWowExp

Youtube kind of failed to tell me that I had a comment on this video. Soooo sorrryyyyy.
