If you notice, she merely "mentioned" Mother Teresa but dwelt on Mao. I think she just referenced Mother Teresa for comic association... to make it funnier for the HS students she was addressing then drive home a point. This is a rather effective public speaking tool. e.g. orchids and hand grenades... but a fragmentation hand grenades has a blast weapon of 15 meters.

I do see the satire in the juxtaposition of Mao and Teressa, but find it hard to justify using Mao in any context to illustrate a noble or just point of view. To me, using Mao as a reference shows an ideology and that is questionable to me at best.

Btw, read Jung Chang's "Mao, the Unknown Story" if you want to learn about the monster, and if he had anything worthwhile to teach us by example or as cautionary tale.
