An animal defeating, or "owning" another animal, doesn't mean that they have to kill the other animal, or even fight for that matter. The cheetah's goal was to discourage the lion, and make it go away instead of attacking her subs. And she succeeded. Seriously, GoldChain is right, you really do bash every other animal that isn't a lion.
