I personally like Aaeru, myself. She escapes from so many cliches in anime females. Confident, no tact, and very practical in the way she thinks. Episode 4 is a prime example.

Anyone noticed how yuri anime are tons more sensual, calm and somewhat more romantic than most other romance anime? I havent watched all of Simoun yet, because I can't find the eps, but I will.

Anyways, this anime is worth watching. Even though I've watched only one ep, I can tell.

A few other suggestions to those who're looking for more, could be Strawberry Panic and Maria-Sama ga Miteru which are both yuri, or Saikano and Rumbling hearts, all four are my romance-favs.

Heh, I just watched Kannazuku no Miko, and someone recommended Simoun to me. So I'm checking if it's any good...

I have to agree to yuri anime being more "sensual, calm and romantic", which for me is a "little" change from Elfen Lied, Higurashi no naku koro ni, Gantz and the like...

Even though I still consider myself grade-a-asshole, it's nice...

I do like the series because of the perfect diffeculties of characters and devolping in the story.. its hard to figure out the first time you watch it because it's on a higher level anime and to hard for younger to understand.

I really do not understand why this series never took off. This is genuine story telling with deep character development, astounding visuals and thoughtful themes. I would even be so bold as to rank this as high as Fullmetal Alchemist. I only wish people would as for quality instead of fanservice when choosing an anime.

This one is too good to pass up.

The song's the best part about this show...and the yuri. The yuri and the song are the best things.

The combat, though, is weird, and the ships are butt-ugly--both the Arcus Prima and the different Simoun. They should've used things that looked more like B-2 stealth bombers or something, with "holy" inscriptions on them.

In the end though, I have no real complaints with this show, other than the fact that there was (as always, with yuri) too much crying. Good anime overall. 4.5 / 5 *'s

It's called originality.

Rather than just rip off WWII, they made designs that were unique and original rather than just copying something.

I'm all for originality, but at least make it look good. The Arcus' and the Simoun...they're ugly--at least in my opinion. That's why I'd prefer something more generic. To each their own though.

I'll admit, the character design is a bit of an acquired taste. But it sets itself apart from others in the genre with all of its aspects, not just story and sound alone.

Not all of them are homely. Personally, I think it's Neveril's "sex doll mouth" that irks me. Her lips are too big and pronounced, and stand out from the rest of her face. It makes her look fake. Same goes for Amuria.

Also, for such a serious character, their eyes aren't slanted enough--more like Dominura. These are all my thoughts. The rest of the characters are fine to me, except for the so-called "males". Yuck....

Again, acquired taste. The anime decided 'not' to make something popular but rather something that's asthetically and conceptually orginal. They're not going for the fans, but rather the story, something I appreciate.

I swear when I first saw this anime, I had to watch it until the end. I fell in love with all the characters, especially Limone!! She's so adorable! I even bought the first 6 episodes on DVD, and about to buy the rest!! XD

There is a lot more to it though." If I remember right, they have to form a pact with another female in order to fly those vehicles. They have to be able to synchronize with the other pilot, which is done so through a kiss. Or something .. I read briefly about it in Newtype.
