It looks fake, because the person talked, then after 3 secs the person finished it went on, if it was recognition wouldn't it be immediately after, i dont know i haven't worked with the sound sensor.

you should design it so teh cup is locked and you can only get your drink when you pay, than it unlocks and a new cup is placed on and locked securely. probably cannot do this with legos though,

No, the speech recognizer was a commercial off-the-shelf system. We only plugged the recognizer, speech synthesizer, and dialog system together and connected them up to the Lego Mindstorms system.

It wouldn't be difficult. However, you probably wouldn't want to put coffee or milk into those little syringes. The coffee would be cold by the time you get to drink it, and the milk might be a bit messy. :)

But it's a good point -- she keeps her hand on the laptop and _could_ press buttons. If I ever film something like this again, I'll make sure that it's clear that no buttons get pressed.

yes but since the NXT's proccessor is not as advance as a laptop's proccessor, it's not fully able to recognize different voices.

hmmm... I dont think it really obey your orders... Its just programmed to ask questions... it dosnt care what you want it makes only 1 cocktail and asks do you want to know how much sugar is in it... if you would say yes it still would be quiet....But still its cool so 4/5

No, it does react to what you say, and does allow you to choose from a database of ten or so different cocktail recipes. You can see the program that keeps track of what the user said on the laptop screen in the back. Too bad that this is only Youtube and not the real world, otherwise you could try it out for yourself. :)
