This deserves way more credit than you are getting. I suggest changing the timing slightly, in the melody line as well as bass. Then rename it and call it your own. It really already is your own. Cannon is based off the true simplicity of going up and down the scale. Pachelbel can't take credit for what was already in alphabetical order. Just do it your own way, a little bit more before you call it yours.
Does your piano have a pedal? i wish i could play as good as you, but.... i don't like your version, maybe it's just the quality but i praise those people that can play piano.
Aside from the horrid tuning on your piano and your occasional mistakes, it's transposed very well. I couldn't detect any transposition mistakes so if you did that yourself than job well done.
That being said, I think it sounds much better in D Major.
It may be the piano... but considering how perfect of a piece Pachelbel's Canon was, it really is a shame to hear it being played in another variation without any expression... music is art, after all, and the beauty of art is its inspiration.
Sorry, I just removed my prior comment, i was just going to append "It sounds wonderful!!" to my list of suggestions. I hope you can access it, but if not... here's the gist of it:
"Slow down & take it easy, smooth out your motions & really 'charm' the sound from the keys, use discord/resolution for intensity more than sharp motions, don't be too afraid of the sust-pedal"
also, I don't feel much should be changed of the notes in this arr., just add a bit of what I mentioned & it'll be great!
Dude, if you're still around, I really hope you repost a version of this without the mistakes. I don't mean to sound selfish, I just love this minor version, and it would be cool to post a more polished version if you have time. What makes me really appreciate this video is that there are so many idiots posting Canon in D Minor when it's in fact in Major. Either one hell of a typo or those idiots don't know major from minor, but either way, love this video!
ur playing is too electronic can u be more natural when u playing? and even my 10year old brother says ur playing have no emotion in it u just a slave to music u have to control it. u're playing notes only, when you're supposed to be playing MUSIC. its a whole lot of difference u noe. and brush up on those mistakes that keep budging in everywhere if u wan to continue posting vids on youtube.
HA! I'm glad I'm not the only one amused by all of the d minor (in D major) canons on you tube.... I once improvised a similar version on guitar at a wedding, as the d minor canon had been requested as part of the prelude music. I've also had requests for "Ava Maria" and "Oh! to Joy!"
AHhh...a pleasant surprise!! D MINOR, finally...I think I may post a Dm version of the song with my string quartet playing it...if I get it up, I'll try to remember to come back to this song and give a link to it...
Technically, the difference is that the third, sixth, and seventh step in a scale can be either minor or major. All i did was switch them, In this case, from F sharp to F natural, from B natural to B flat, and from C sharp to C natural.
Correct me if im wrong, but that doesnt make sense musically. Its in the key of D minor. You cant just go around changing the notation. Itachi46 states the same concern.
your changing the foundation of the song. Fourths and fifths can be augmented, why did you choose to change only the third, sixth, and seventh step. Seconds can be minor as well.... Why not seconds? maybe im missing something...
In a major scale, you start on a note, then go up a whole, step, another whole step, then a half step, then whole step. Then you go up a whole step, a final whole step, then one last half step. An F major scale would consist of the following notes: F G A Bflat CDEF. A D major scale would be D E Fsharp GABCsharp D.
for a minor scale, you start on a note, go up a whole step, then a half step, then a whole step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step. A F minor scale would consist of : F G Aflat Bflat, C Dflat, Eflat, F. A D minor scale would consist of D E F G A Bflat, C D. Instead of using the traditional D major scale: D E Fsharp G A B Csharp D, I used the D minor scale: D E F G A Bflat, C D. That all I did, I swear!!!
isnt key the first note.. i.e. its like cmajor or dmajor.. minor is not shifting the whole scale by changing (as the poster stated) flattening the third sixth and seventh note of the scales.
did you make this up? i thought you would just apply the d minor key to canon in d like i do. but these is really cool. do you have sheet music?:)) great job.
I would like to thank all of my viewers for making this my most popular video, however, seeings as this doesn't even have 1000 veiws yet, that isn't saying much. Thank you all. Yes. Toast.
I love arrangements of Canon in the minor key. If only I could find sheet music for it since I'm not capable enough to do it myself. D; This is beautiful, btw.
hah, just wat ive been looking for for hours!! thanks dude. :] i think it could have done with the left hand normal though, and the right hand just how you played it

I've played this variation before... But in the actual key... :/
It just doesn't sound right when its minor. I'd rather prefer the major key.
You should repost this, but with cleaner, sustained notes, more legato and make it a bit slower. That's all I'd say. :)

hey man try to play it with the a major chord at the end of each canon. That may help it.

You play with very flat tone -_-!! i can't hear movement of tone... you know, P or F any where, they are all just very. . . . flat.

the minor version is just plain not as good, even if it is played clean, enough of these chanks tryin to change the world man

Yes, because by putting it in minor version, I'm trying to make some significant differance in the world.

It would be 'emotionless' if its in a minor key. It's a set of notes down.. so what do you expect?
A song and dance?
vmkcheckitout 2 years ago
It wouldn't be, Canon in D minor is beautiful, the real version that is.

yes if you play it slower and sustained the notes, you will come up with a good canon.....

mino is sad sounding and a little softer as far as the sound goes. major is happy sounding and generally louder when played normally
