I don knw anyone has noticed or not but I find, Bailey n Derek's friendship quite deep and undstnd....same situation occurs in elevator in season 6 with same song, same characters but tat time, bailey breaks down n derek take care of her...like in this scene...she take care of him...I love this duo...:))

It's a little bit of both... He lost a patient that he got attached to... And he realized that he couldnt be with Mer cuz he was married and had to work it out... It's not simply cuz he chose Addison... Lots of emotions in here... That patient was really sweet and Mer, Derek and the other patient got attached to her just to know she was about to die... So yeah a little bit of everything made him cry... They're not simple people btw... They're doctors...

The song is Today Has Been Okay by Emiliana Torrini. I just realized that it's the same song that was played last night during the premiere when Derek stops the elevator for Bailey. So awesome!
@sexypromiscuousgal Ok I agree with you but one of my fav couples of the serie, cristina and owen, the reason why I began to watch again grey's Shonda is playing with them with love triangles instead of giving them a chance and grow together as a couple... I love them! But the finale season yeah you're completely right, has made up for this boring sixth season.
Miranda Bailey is by far the best thing that has ever happened on greys. God she is the most effective actor, she always gets yoru tears rolling. She just excells on screen, the auro she generates is beyond words, there is DEFINITLY an oscar in the pipe line for her... :) not on greys but in a film she will definitly be recognised :)
Sometimes the best scenes on this show is when they say nothing at all!

Thank you for posting this scene. It's def. one of my fav. scenes and "Into You Like a Train" is one of my favorite episodes.
