@TheHayzelnut If I had to guestimate (which I'm going to do), I'd say he's a teenager. In "Human Error," his alternate human-self is considerably younger than everyone else. Bulkhead would probably be a bit older than him (early to mid-20s for a human). Ratchet and Prowl (since he was shown as a young bot in the Great War in a flashback) are probably old enough to have met his parents or something and Optimus...I want to say double Bee's age.

And the fact that Hasbro got the trademark back because of him. They lost it after G1, which is how we got Hot Shot (originally, he was going to be Bumblebee). Kinda ironic how in Animated it was the opposite, supposed to be Hot Shot, but because of the person mentioned above, he was changed to Bee. But yeah, the answer lies in the 2007 movie.

In this show, Autobots used to be labourers and workers, so most of them have tools co-opted to become weapons (much like peasants and farmers used to do in real life). BB's stingers were used to clear debris and weld metals, I think. Same with Prime's axe and Ratchet's magnets.
