How do you keep it from leaking?? Tarp it? How about making the roof a little longer to create an over hang where it meets the side wall. Sort of like a mini eve? I would love to make one for camping. How do they hold up against bad weather? High winds etc...
all the joints are sealed with 6" fiber reinforced tape, which can be expensive and hard to find. the sheet insulation is from home depot and is the same stuff you would use to wrap your house. i would say it's water resistant bordering on water proof. creating an overhang is not required as that joint is also sealed with tape. and since these are built without wasting any material changing the geometry/design is a bit difficult.
and i forgot to add that they can and should be tied down. small sections of PVC pipe (~3") can be taped to each corner of the hex and then lines ran to stakes or weights. we used cinder blocks to hold this one down as digging/staking was not allowed in the area. we have had one staked in 60mph winds and it did fine.
I forgot to say That thing looks awesome!!!!!!!!Brilliant idea!!!!
