we feed ours minnows and crayfish and turtle food from the petshop, but he's right, u need a uvb so uvb lamp or ur turtle will get shell rot. cute turtle btw!

turtles dont get shell rot from no having uvb - they get shell rot from not basking because its too cold --uvb helpz there shell tho and is needed for a healthy turtle --

i will have to say they are great pets. however adult peninsula cooters can grow to 18 inches in length depending on the sex of the turlte. im pretty sure females get bigger though

they grow pretty fast depending on how much you feed them and the type of diet. this one was the size of a quarter in march 08 and now its 3.5 inches long

Great tank setup! Although the filter's a little loud- I shouldn't talk, I have no filter for mine, so I have to clean it manually ALL the time. It's a workout.
