Love these guys...I followed these guys all up and down the east coast in the 90's.There such good people...True to their fans. They keep their fans on the same level. If you go up to them they will talk to you.I partied with them on their bus after a show at Lupos in Providence,Ri in
97 what a great time. last show all the original members played together...miss their shows
good friend gave me this CD 1991, became my favorite, then...happened to see the Sasmples in 92 at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village WY, man what a real group! Totally REAL and still a favorite!
I'm listening to Sean Kelly and The Samples live right now on the Denver radio station 99.5 The Mountain. Great interview as well about the early days in Boulder and what they are up to today, including the release of a new album. He sounds as good today as he did 20 years ago.
Earth Day, NYC exactly 20 years ago. I flew in from California and was backstage when you guys blew in, 30 minutes late with no gear. They handed you the rental gear and you went on, no sound check, and you blew us away. Thanks for that memory.
my mom turned me on to your music when i was 5 years old. my cousin was john brownson, i saw you guys when i was 8 and sean signed a hat that i had for many years. i'm 24 now.
These guys were on our local station tonight KFOG in SF...they were soooo soooo ahead of their time! And I feel like they didnt have aggressive band promotors but perhaps wanted it that way. The Samples....lyrics that resonate and are branded in my hear! Thanks guys!
This album was constantly in the CD changer in my house. You were my Dad's favorite band (and one of the few he liked that my mom could tolerate). I love listening to your music again now that I'm in college and finding new meaning in music that's so familiar to me. It's this music that is the basis for the close father-daughter relationship my dad and I have! Thank You!
Diamond waves and sunglass days go by... man, I loved this song when I was a kid. I still do. I think it really captures a bit of the joy of sailing into the mystic.
I'm embarrassed to say that I still feel this song and can't do anything about it, I seriously can't get out of bed ! That totally sucks. But this song gives me such spirit!
My favorite band. Ever. Sad that 98% of my friends have never heard of them. I wish Sean & company "made it" like they deserved to. The Samples music lives on! Thanks Seany Boy!
@barker83 They made it where they wanted to, that's all that matters. They chose not to "make it" farther and I'm glad they didn't because I appreciate and respect Sean and the band that much more.
I saw them open a reggae fest at Red Rocks in - I guess it was 1991? Sean took this "stance" behind the mic, and broke into the opening riff of this song. I was totally blown away. I'd never heard of them before; and I'll never forget that performance. I had to buy the album on cassette, as I didn't have a CD player in my car (yet)... ...listened to it all the way back to Chapel Hill. So for me - the Samples are the mountains, with the rain and the sunshine slanting in sideways...
Hi friends, I had the great honor to tour as your bus driver for quite awhile. I sure miss you guys alot , and sure remember all the great times we had on the road. God bless ! Steve S
For some reason Sean Kelly "The Samples" are so Nautical. Can't figure it out but reminds me of highschool and great memories partying on the water. Always a good time! Happy Holidays to all!
Learned who The Samples were while at Colorado State U from 1990 to 1995. Never got to see them live, but grew to love the music. Band was very popular in Ft. Collins.
God truly blessed is by allowing sean kelly to share his immense musical talents with us. thanks sean for all the great memories we all associate with your music. unbelievable songwriting bro.
I met these guy's at a rush concert in Montreal Canada, Real nice guy's.
Would have never heard of them unless I was at that rush show. It was actualy inthe rest room, Thank god I had to take a piss at that particular moment otherwise I would have never heard this great band.
Caught you in Norman, OK in 1990. Yeah, I'm old. So are you. Glad to see you are still performing and recording Sean because your music is like a life preserver in an ocean of crap. Job, family and relationship troubles disappear when I listen to your stuff. and I'm transported back to that time when life was less complex, and more fun. It is a little bit magical and I'm thankful for it.
The Samples and Nantucket. Bad ass musicians and a bad ass place. This video always takes me back to my days on the island and the samples playing at the Chicken Box.
Thank God for musical talent like this - with all that is wrong with this country & world these days - this song takes me to a better place of great comfort and hope. The Samples - a breath of fresh air!!!
My friends turned me on to The Samples in college in 1991. We used to fall asleep to your music every night in our dorm room. Your music still brings back great memories for me. Thank you.
@bwelaj This reminds me when I was in undergrad school! A friend also turned me to this group. They keep it real! Not like the stuff that's on the radio now.
I had exactly the same experience in college with The Samples music. Being from Minnesota and hearing this music while at The University of Miami in Florida, this music will always remind me of the beauty of the ocean down there. Amazing!!
My older brother introduced me to the samples in 1993. I didn't understand the craze at first. But not much time longer - I was sharing them with all of my friends. Sean, you music has touched my life. = ) so thank you for that.
