  • I like soymilk because I hate cow milk because I feel bad for the cows!!

  • Hi....One question for the poster or anyone else who knows....Is making your own soy milk cheaper than buying it at the grocery story???? I buy soy milk for roughly $2.50 to $3.00 per half gallon.

  • Wow that's quite a bit of work. Using a soya milk machine is WAY neater and convenient. Elegant too. I found a really useful machine on soyamilkmachine . net

Basically, you could produce the same thing within just 20 mins while you sit back and relax~

  • if soymilk very different from normal (cow) milk??

  • hello what do u do with the left over.... the residue?

  • Thank you very much. You are a gift to humanity! <3

  • What made this video so good is she showed where she made slight mistakes like not adding enough water or using enough clips to hold the cheesecloth. This make a newbie less stressed when making something new. I also use a fine mesh strainer which works better for me than cheesecloth.

  • Thank you so much for posting this lovely video. : D

  • This seem to be a different process from the other videos. Which is more correct?sift the okara before putting the soy into boil or sift it after boiling like the one in this video??

  • do u hav to pour the soy milk onto the cheese cloth?

  • omg gr8 video responses--- esp the lifeguard hand SO FUNNI.

  • bins

  • do you usually make soymilk or just buy at the market?

  • what's the music in the background?

I LOVE it, it's so wonderful!!!!!

  • I don't know about homemade, but the soy milk from the stores tastes like ass. :/

  • Does it go bad when stored?

  • So after it's come to a boil, we turn down the heat and let it just simmer for the 20 minutes??????

  • Thank You.

This is perfect for the sustainable living off the grid homesteading lifestyle where living without refrigeration is easier than most people think.

  • i wish i knew how to make a lifeguard hand turn into a guitar.. OH WAIT

  • yummy!

  • I TASTED SOYMILK AND IT IS A BIT SWEET..DO WE NEED TO PUT SUGAR IN MAKING SOY MILK?

  • Oh my goodness, I made my own soymilk following these steps and it was DISGUSTING! I want to buy it ('cuz supermarket soymilk is more tasty a more nutritive), but in my country it's six times more expensive than cow milk. :S

  • @luisfml94 Just curious if you tried to make soy milk again. There are better methods Plus, if you let the milk cool before adding the lids avoids the sulphurous (rotten egg) smell. It gets trapped in the jar but usually evaporates with the steam as it cools. Cooking the beans prior to grinding them also allows the enzyme inhibitors to be nutralized. Add some vanilla or almond extract. Barley or cooked rice. Add malted milk powder, salt & honey. Or raw nut milks are easier to make & flavorful!

  • I'm sure it's better homemade, but after trying almond milk, there is absolutely no way I'm going back to soy milk.

  • @chiconspiracy Really? They make almond milk? I'm definitely gonna have to try that!

  • @tricybaby07

Yep, infinitely better tasting than soy milk. Especially good in smoothies.

  • brilliant simply brilliant , off to making home made soy milk

  • thanks for this! those slow motion shots were really beautiful!

  • The thing I remember the most about my one experiment with soy milk was just how bad it smelled when the last little bit went off in the fridge. It smelled just like rotting meat. I guess it's the high protein content that's responsible.

  • That milk looks delicious

  • wow. pretty nice. looks quick and easy. =D

  • how long does it last?

  • Love the video....even had some comic relief in it. Good Job!

  • you have to cook it!

  • What is the gunk left over that she calls "orcada" or something...? What can I use it for? Anyone know?

  • @Aliciapeach That's called OKARA. Watch Video Response.

  • Thanks dude.

  • How long can we store those milks? Thanks Do you know how to make Tofu?

  • wow, so hard to make , lol

  • I make soy milk with my soy milk maker, but i have one problem, i allow it to cool wen ive made it b4 putting it in the fridge, but after 2 days it tastes bitter and awful? Do u kno why this could be? I flavour with a bit of agava and vanilla extract. But somethings telling me that shouldnt make a difference...

  • thanks ;)

  • thanks for putting this.

  • You're welcome :)

  • @thedailyenglishshow what kind of soybeans i need to make that milk???

  • @thedailyenglishshow at 1:43, the by-product is called what? and you save it for later to use for what?

  • @j1001s27sw It's called Okara, you can use it to for example make patties or falafel. :)

In the "related videos" there's a video called "#487 Okara Falafel" that explains how to make falafel out of okara.

  • For taste, add a bit of sea salt, vanilla, and raw sugar or honey or stevia.

  • soy beans are sometimes sold in supermarkets displayed like rice exposed to open air.. so do you rinse the beans before soaking them overnight?

  • Once you filter the milk, can you

use that to do something else?

    I mean the fiber

  • My Boys are SOY MILK-A_holics, can't wait to make my own' THANKS

  • i like the way you were taking the piss out of your self. funny. Can't wait to try this.

  • How long do you boil the soy milk? until no more foam ? I know the foam is poisonous.

  • the foam is poisonous???

  • no the foam is not

  • BRAVO! FANTASTICO!

  • if u have a smoothie maker than use that because u can filter the okara through the tap rather than using a muslin/cheese cloth

  • This might be a dumb question, but why is it that edamame is green but these are yellowish. I thought they were the same thing.

  • I believe its because green edamame is fresh. These are dry.

  • Hello, you didn't show the heating/cooking part, which is very time consuming and problematic. Soymilk could easily burnt at the buttom of the pot or suddenly boil over. So you have use low heat and stand-by and watch for a long time.

  • get a vitamix blender and no need to use the cheese cloth

  • Where can I find these soy beans, and can the soy milk be made without boiling, because I plan on going raw. Thanks!

  • would it be a lot easier if she squeezed out the blended soybean first before boiling it coz she was like struggling to squeeze out the milk coz it was too hot to handle

  • no, because it doesn't work like that.

cook, then squeeze. also, cheese cloth might not be enough to get all the grit out of it, so you might have to use something finer.

  • cool

  • how about rice milk? anyone know how to do that?

  • Rice does not seem to blend as well as soy bean with water.

  • watch Rice Milk in this site

  • I cannot wait to do this!

  • making soymilk is hard work lol

  • I love soymilk..

  • this is badass!

  • Great!!!

  • this metod is not good. when you take out the soy milk at low temperature the proteine remains intact.

  • Cool. Did you guys really make mistakes or was it all just to fool proof your video?

Any how, it's a simple, fast, and easy task to make soymilk. At least thats how you guys make it seem LOL. Nice Job.

  • Soymilk tastes gooooodddd, and it does the body goooooooooooodddd!

  • yeah babey! i taste goood!

  • before purchasing a soymilk maker, my mom make soymilk pretty much the same way you do except for one step. you cooked the bean & water mixture after blending, my mom strains the mixture before cooking it.

  • Made It 2x. 1st Time I Boiled It For About 45m. Tried A Drop, My Stomach Hurt For 1Wk. Next Time, I Tried A Dif Recipe.. Cooked On Med Till Boiling. Let It Cool 30Min. Cooked In Double Boiler For 30Min. This Time I Took All The Skins Off & Skimed The Top Of Weird Bubbles & Skin.. Drank About 1T &, Within 10min My Stomach Was Hurting. Through The Morning.. Until I Can Use The Restroom. It Goes On For A Week. Any Ather Advise?... Should Soy Milk Still Smell Weird After You Done Cooking It?

  • I Made Some Homemade Soy Milk, & My Stomach Hurt For About 12 Hours Sofar.. I Really Wanna Learn How To My My Own Because It'd Be Cheaper Than Buying It.. But It Hurts My Stomach Really Bad Evertime I Make It.. But I Can Drink Soy Milk From The Store.. Does Anyone Know What Would Be The Cause Of This?

  • Maybe you're not boiling the milk long enough. There is an enzyme in the uncooked beans that makes it difficult for us to digest. Boiling the milk for at least half an hour kills the enzyme. Also, while you're boiling the milk, collect the skins that form on the top. There are many recipes using bean curd skins that are very tasty.

  • finally i know how to make it ! thanks.

does anyone know for how long can I keep it in the fridge ? And, how much proteins does the 100ml have ?

  • well...can you please guys stop critizing..soymilk is a economy friendly alternative to cow's milk,,,so..can you please..

  • Soy milk= Worst beverage ever made ( that I know of ).

  • dude y do they call it milk it tastes like complete shit and doesnt have all the nutrients milk does

  • It didn't taste bad to me. What exact nutrients does cow milk have that soy milk doesn't?

  • @kac1964 protein

  • @MamoruTakamurasan Thats odd....every where I read the ingredients, it states approximately 3.4% of protein. A different protein. Hmmmmmmm. one example;

    lipids (fats) -- approximately 4%

    proteins -- approximately 3.4%

carbohydrates (lactose) -- approximately 4.8%, and

    minerals -- approximately 0.8%

  • I know this might seem like a strange question, but can you use other types of beans in a similar way, to extract other kinds of liquid? I know it wouldn't be 'milk' but are there other things you can do with liquidised beans?

  • you can make a liquid out of pretty much anything. Wether it tastes good is your own verdict :)

  • Yes, just wondering if there are other tasty ones, so that I don't have to use trial and error, or poison my dogs with the left-overs :o)

  • Good video though :)

  • Thanks.

  • Sorry, what's English about this video?

It's filmed in Canada and presented by what sounds like a New Zealander?

  • It's for people studying the English language. I speak NZ English.

  • @mattymaxinc English, as in the language: not English, as in England.

  • Very useful but I bet i'll make a wreck of it!!! Thanks alot ;)

  • Good vid

  • what can you do with the foam!?

  • you throw them away, but the left over soy. you can actually make something else out of it.

  • you get rid of it... but you can use the soy bean extract that's left after u filter the milk as fertilizer.

  • soy milk is fucking nasty, titty milk is the only way i roll!

  • You need to check the science on non-fermented soy. It really is not as healthy as you might think, actually it is the other way round.

  • Thanks for keeping the 'knowledge' of cooking alive and well...great to be able to access it.

    Rock on, amigos.

  • i have a soymilk maker :)

    but this is helpful

  • Great info. for those that are lactose intolerant. People are HEATED over the slo mo & repeated parts... probably the RED meat eaters! LOL!

  • just how poisonous is this foam?

  • Hey dudes,, don't eat this crap. It's full of estrogens...you'll get man boobs.

  • you mean MOOBS

  • how can there be estrogen in a bean?

  • Uuuh... no you don't, 40horsechrome, I would explain to you why, but maybe you should look into that yourself.

  • Thank you! I've always wondered how to do it, I've only ever seen green soybeans however, where can I find those dried yellow ones?

  • Nice, but I don't have the time to make it. I'd rather just buy Silk at the grocery store.

  • that easy eh? wow

  • Kikkoman Pearl Organic Soymilk is really good. Especially on shredded wheat with a little pure maple syrup & chopped pecans.

  • Those slow motion parts made me furious...

  • Can you show me how to pour the beans into the pot again? I missed it the first 26 times.

  • I am going to try soy milk now. =)

  • Actually, soy milk isn't gross, it just depends on which kind you buy. Silk Very Vanila soy milk is actually very sweet...also, you supposed to shake it well...

  • too bad soy milk tastes gross :(

  • top!

  • and soymilk is used for...????? im guessing it tastes like beans so, why would u want bean milk

  • Looks much better than the one in the box!!!Nice one!!!

It`s a substitute for regular milk (if you`re like allergic to it or vegetarian)

  • Good God can't believe i watched this hole video...

  • OOoo I didn't know the foam is poisonous! My mom makes a type of miso soup a lot like that (we leave the beans inside and a bit chunky) but we leave the foam there. Uh oh...

  • Then again ... your mum probably knows more about it than me.

  • uh.. she never said the foam was poisonous

  • check out her comments.

  • That's pretty darn cool. hee. I have to use soy milk (though I really only bother to use it with cereal) since I have acid reflux and regular milk is just a big no no.

I never knew it could be that easy. lol. Does it taste very different from what you'd buy in the store? I usually just get Silk soy milk.

  • It tastes different to the stuff I have been drinking in Canada (So Nice) - because that has extra ingredients like sugar, flavour etc. But it tastes pretty much the same as the plain stuff I get in Japan.

  • Hmmm. I'll have to try it one day. *G* Thanks for sharing, hun.

  • Thankyou!! I love your accent. Poor the milk into jazz! Love it!!!

  • Thanks : ) jazz lol

  • What do they do with the skimmed leftovers?

  • Do you mean the stuff I skimmed off the top when it was cooking? That is kind of poisonous... so it is thrown away. The other stuff (okara) is usually used as animal feed - or in cooking. I have been making lots of stuff with the okara: falafel, stir-fry, pizza base.

  • Could you post a vid or comment on how you make those okara-dishes? What sort of prep do you need?

  • The video that is a response to this one is one of the things I made with okara.

  • Lovely

  • Thanks for this demonstration. I did not realize how simple making soy milk can be. This really is helpful and I am hoping will save me some money as I go through more than a quart a day.

  • You're welcome. I didn't realise it was so simple either. I was quite surprised.
