In Serbia, people aren't waiting in the line for the garbage trucks to come. they throw the garbage in the cans and containers, and garbage-collectors come to pick that up.
Dont worry, it's a public service, and they are paid for it. Citizens, actually paying the rent for them to pick that up. Usually they come once a week. So, very simple, just put the garbage in the can and that's it, no waiting for the trucks...
I wonder what happens if you have to work in the early morning and can't catch the garbage truck... what happens then? I think we in the US are a little spoiled in this... leaving the garbage outside and someone will magicially pick it up the next day. LOL... i wonder what would happen if NYC has this system... less rats as an result?
@ballm0use well that's the reason for the music :9 you can hear it coming from a mile away and when it comes to your street you take your trashbag out and throw it in the truck when it stops at the corner. (they do have trashcans there)
Notice how in classic Taiwanese style, the truck pulls out and then stops, blocking a whole lane of traffic while the last few people throw in their garbage. Hahahha
That's because it's getting ready to move on to the next stop point. Vehicles can travel by the lane on the left of the truck, but not all trucks do this. Some collect their garbage moving extremely slowly.
You, spacemoose39, you are seeing that right. I've been there, too. Of course, if you think about it in a certain way, the kids coming to the United States, or small towns and cities in Canada will think that we are strange for putting garbage truck music on our ice cream trucks. Just different, I guess.
yes... the trash trucks. The trash man once asked my mom if she was sad.

@PhDSanchez, Beijing too, though not so much since the Olympics.

And yes, sometimes the people offer an alcoholic beverage to garbage-collectors, but it is voluntary...

Am I seeing this right?
The garbage truck drives up with the happy ice cream truck music playing, and people come out and throw their trash in?
Also, was that people sorting the recyclables in the second truck?

yes for second truck. The whole purpose is not to have "garbage on ground" and it is Taiwan in Asia, not North America...
