  • The system that won the gold at the Vancouver Olympics is made by Apex Composites. Carbon fiber. The canadians rode it all last season covered up in duct tape and whatnot. You can buy it now. Google apex race plate. Looks like a nice entry level copy by Donek.

  • Sean: impressive dev and great comprehensive vid !

Wondering if the PE parts could be adapted to a normal 4x4 board...would need another interface, but would be great since many riders would not have to replace their quiver to be able to use the plate system of yours no?

    thnx

    Nils

  • @swoard

Nils, There is both a 4X4 and UPM version. I'll be posting a mounting instruction video for both systems in another couple of weeks.

  • This is good to see some snowboard innovations. But i really do not see any useful properties of that technology other than help woodlegged riders to reduce legs fatigue. This can be solved by proper technique development as well in such a way so one will be able to ride for a whole day on any kind of surface.

Also - from the safety standpoint - having moving parts between the boots and board quite risky decision. Hope that you have tested it rigorously to avoid reduction of your customers.

This is the same concept that won the Gold medal in GS at the Vancouver Olympics. You might check out Apex Composites (gold medal) product as well. Bomber will be releasing a similar product this winter too. Many other players have systems in the developmental stages. Plate systems have been around in various forms since the 90's. Systems like this have been in use by the ski industry far longer.

  • @doneksnowboards Hi Sean, i know that this technology is used by racers and give them some advantage. What I, as recreational carver will get by using this cool plate?

I do not agree that board bending during the turn makes my stance uncomfortable.

  • @starikashka1

Recreational riders gain stability. I said the same thing before riding a mono plate for the first time. I didn't think that the constant changes in my stance had any affect on my riding. Once you ride a plate, you'll know. The goofy grin on your face will let everyone around you know too.

  • @starikashka1 take a look at our video titled: Plate System Destructive testing

  • Great explanation!

  • Beautiful Sean, can't wait to ride one. Thanks for the videos, Kipp
